Perhaps it's because my dad committed suicide and had many symptoms of bipolar disorder? And early onset isn't that uncommon. Mania and depression are NOT mood swings. They last much longer and show very different symptoms from your average mood swings.

For example mania often induces diassociation, vivid delusions, reckless choices and an increase in sex drive as well as rushing thoughts.

because again you swing between two moods of being energetic to extremely slowed down and depressive -

mood swings can still be problematic even if it turns out she isn't really bipolar, if meds help then it is still good stuff

I'm not one to try and go against medical science and psychology, but some of these disorders are incredibly inconsistent that leaves actual diagnosis muddled as there can be immeasurable possibilities to someone's conditioned idiosyncrasy -

But yeah, the symptoms do overlap. The only reason why I was diagnosed bipolar instead was due to my reckless choices (drinking, smoking, sending nudes, etc) and bc the antidepressant I was on triggers mania in bipolar patients -
But anyways my grandmas teaching me to sew so yay
