Chester’s face fell. He sat up and gently grabbed Jayden’s hands. ‘Darling, look at me. I love you. I care about you so, so much. If I had never met you, I’d be in the worst place right now. I’d never do anything on purpose to hurt you. And if I ever do, you let me know immediately, okay? There’s no excuse for anyone to hurt you like that.’

Jayden scanned his face for any dishonesty. He couldn't see any. He paused before wrapping him in a tight hug.

Chester sighed softly, hugging him back. He held him tightly. ‘I’m sorry for making you think that,’ he said softly.

"Don't be." Jayden mumbled. "It's me getting into my own head."

‘Still,’ Chester said quietly. ‘If I do or say anything that hurts your feelings, tell me, please.’

Jayd nodded, leaning into him. "Sounds good."

Chester gave a small smile, kissing the top of his head. ‘You’re amazing. I love you so, so much.’ He thought about what would happen if he hadn’t met Jayden. Nothing good.

Jaden held on tighter, smiling weakly. "I love you too."

Chester kissed the top of his head.

Jayden pulled away eventually, looking up at him.

Chester gave a weak smile.

Jayd smiled back, noticing how weak his smile was. "You okay?"

‘O-Of course,’ Chester said quietly.

"You sure?"

‘Mhm,’ Chester said, feigning a smile.
