Jayd noticed how concerned Chester was about it and played with his hair more. "Whatever you want."

Chester leaned into his touch. ‘I’m not the one who got lied to. It’s your choice.’

"I don't want to talk about it in public." Jayden mumbled. "So maybe just hanging out."

‘We can talk about it in private,’ Chester offered. ‘W-We can walk around my garden.’

"Okay." Jayd nodded, smiling weakly.

Chester sat up slightly and kissed his jaw. ‘Or we can talk about it now.’

"Whatever you want." Jayden shrugged, patting his head.

Chester sighed. ‘Love, you’re the one who’s supposed to decide.’

"I know."

Chester leaned into his touch. ‘I love you.’

"I love you too." Jayden looked down.

‘What’s wrong?’

"It's stupid." It'll ruin the mood, you'll hate me for it, and it's just me being insecure.

‘It’s not stupid.’

Jayden sighed. "I'm worried that me saying I love you made you feel like you could do whatever you want and I'd still love you." I'm worried that if so, you're right. He knew it was so gross, thinking of love as an excuse instead of a feeling. He also knew it wouldn't be the first time it happened.
