Jayd stiffened for a moment before leaning into him, exhaling shakily.

‘You’re safe,’ Chester said softly, rubbing his shoulder with his thumb. ‘I’ve got you.’

Jayden didn't answer for a long time. "Please don't let go of me." He mumbled, scared that once Chester did, he'd never come back,

Chester’s face softened. He shifted closer and wrapped both his arms around him, pulling him close. ‘I won’t. Promise,’ he said softly.

Jayd buried his face in Chester's shoulder, holding onto him tightly.

Chester rubbed his back, trying to soothe him. ‘You’re safe,’ he whispered, kissing the top of his head.

Jayden sighed. "I'm sorry I'm worrying you so early about a stupid dream." He mumbled.

‘Don’t be sorry, love. I get it,’ Chester said softly, kissing his nose. ‘Do you want to tel me what it was about?’

"Benji." Jayd looked down.

‘Ah,’ Chester said quietly. He hugged him close. ‘He really shook you, huh?’

Jayden nodded. Well when your ex is threatening you to get back with him, it tends to shake you up a bit.

Chester rubbed his side with his thumb. ‘Well, you’re not gonna have to see him again, okay?’

Jayden gave a weak smile, knowing that wasn't fully true. Benji's words still echoed in his head, about how he wasn't going to forget the promise he made.

Chester cupped his cheek, rubbing his thumb along it gently. ‘Why would you ever have to?’

"I dunno, he lives in my kingdom, it wouldn't be surprising if we ran into each other."
