Chester nodded and looked back down at his food.

Jayden finished the rest of his food.

Chester did the same. He stood up and pat Maeve’s head. ‘See you.’

"Bye." Maeve smiled. Jayden stood up as well.

Chester smiled back and walked out.
Maeve glanced up at Jayden. ‘Do you have a crush?’ -
"I-well- ... no." Jayden lied. Was it a lie? Could you know you had feelings for someone even if it's only been a day?

Maeve raised an eyebrow. ‘You sure?’

"Yes." Jayd said firmly.

Maeve shrugged. ‘Okay,’ she said, continuing to eat.

Jayden stood up. "I'm going with Chester. Bye." He picked up the pace a bit so he could follow him.

Chester wasn’t walking particularly fast in the hallway. He got butterflies whenever he thought back to the dinner conversation.

Jayd caught up to Chester. "Hey. You left rather abruptly."

Chester glanced at him. ‘Oh. Did I?’

Jayden shrugged. "Kinda." He didn't really, Jayden just wanted an excuse to talk to him.

‘Right. I guess I was just.. startled,’ Chester said, shrugging.
