The air around me feels heavy, and cold. As I breathe, I look around and notice I'm in an unfamiliar place. I feel my body tremble in the dark atmosphere. I raise my weapon, shouting a battle cry as I try to slice my opponent. He, or rather, it, dodges out of my way and stabs me through my chest. The blood flows quickly out, and I struggle for breath. "It's your turn to die, false hero!" It screams, before I black out. I can then see my brother's face, with tears in his eyes. He moves his mouth to speak, and I can't hear him.
"Micheal, get up! We're late!" My brother, Brandan, yells. I whisper something before my eyes open completely, then I sit up. "We're... what?" I say groggily. "Late! Let's go!" We hastily dress ourselves, then get our things ready for school. On the way there, I notice how silent Brantford has become. I tell my brother about my dream, but he just shrugs. "What's that all about? You told me you've been having that dream for months now. What do you think it means?" I think about his question deeply, then shrug. I really didn't know, and I didn't care to, yet. The war has begun, now is the time for you to awaken.. Something or someone speaks in my mind. "What..?" Brandan stops. "What was that?" I shake my head. "Nothing. Go without me for now." I tell him. He leaves, but not before saying, "Hope you feel better, bro." I nod, and see something weird. I watch as a person seems to appear out of nowhere, and hit the ground. A pool of blood surrounds them, and I run over. "Hey, are you okay?!" The stranger looks up at me, his blue eyes darkening. Three triangles appear on his hand, and then onto mine, as my vision fades to black. -
(Sorry, that was the intro, chapter one is to come.)

Chapter One: The World of Danger.
...
I come to in a huge field of green grass, wind blowing at a slow pace. I grab my head and rub my eyes, taking a second to notice where I am. Where the hell am I? I wonder, standing up. I groan as I notice a pain in my left arm, and I turn to look at it. There is a cut and blood, from what looks to be a knife, but I see that the blood is dry, so I relax a little. I see a town in the distance, so I decide to walk over there. I find a guard, who says, "Welcome traveller! You must be new here!" I nod my head slowly, finding myself a bit that he is talking so happily. I try to speak, but cannot find my voice. As if he was telepathic, he answered the current question lingering within my mind. "This place is called Castle Town, and it is normally a peaceful town, but there has been a few attacks by moblins recently." I give him a curious look, to which he replies, "You don't know what Moblins are? They're like pigs, but have bodies like hylians, and they are not too friendly." I nod, then bow as thanks, before I walk into the town.
~~~
After about fifteen minutes, I explored the whole town and all its shops. In the process, I learned about many other types of monsters, and learned that it's dangerous to go alone, at least without a weapon. So, I go back into one of the shops, the Bazaar, and look around for any weapons. Nothing that I need is there, so I exit. I sigh, defeated, and pull up my hood. Just then, I hear someone shout "Enemies at the town gate! Guards!", and I look to their direction. A bunch of weird looking creatures have gone through the gate, and I nearly get lost in the crowd of people that have started running for the castle in the distance. I hear a bunch of fighting through them, and I see one of the guards fall while dropping his sword. He has a cut on his arm from a Moblin, and I run over without thinking, picking up the guard's sword in my right hand. With not a moment of training, I use the weapon to fend off the Moblin before it kills the guard. Albeit very poor sword skills, I lash at the Moblin, cutting it a few times. After continuously stabbing it, the Moblin falls, dead. "T-thank you.." The wounded guard says, smiling. I gice him a thumbs up and go off to help the others.
~~~
I sigh, wiping the last bit of blood off my forehead. "Who are you?" One of the guard's asks me. I try to speak again, and this time I can. "M-Mike." I drop the sword I'm carrying and look at my right arm. It's bleeding, and I can't feel it. As my eyes slowly close, and as I begin my descent to the ground, the last thing I hear is, You have proven yourself worthy... I fall unconscious with a smile. -
(Awesome xD)

Chapter Two: The Legend of The Goddesses.
I open my eyes as I feel the ground underneath me shaking, and I sit up, finding that I'm in a wagon type thing, with a guard steering the horses. "Oh, you're awake? I'm glad." I hear a female voice ask me. I turn around to see a red haired woman looking at me. "Who are you?" I ask her, rubbing my eyes. "My name's Malon, and I saw what you did for us back there. You're pretty brave. Yet, you've never held a sword before, have you?" She asks, eyeing me. "Not before earlier. I was running on instinct." Malon picks up a bottle of milk. "I can't pay you properly yet, so have one of these, for now. On me." I nod, taking the bottle and removing the cork. I let the creamy liquid slide down my throat, and I can't help myself as I gulp it all down. "So, what's you're name, stranger?" Malon asks me. I turn to look at the scenery passing by. "You can call me Mike. And I'm not from here, this world, or dimension, whatever it is." I notice that Malon looks interested. "I know you aren't. I saw you just a day ago as you appeared in the middle of Hyrule Field." I bolt upright after I hear her say that. "What?!" The guard turns around. "Sir, could you please calm down? You're shaking the wagon." I nod. "Sorry."
~~~
The wagon stops in front of what looks to be a farm. "This is my stop. You're going to the castle, right?" I shrug, confused. "Well, you're welcome to stay here for a night or two, if you wish." I get off the wagon. "Sounds good, I've got nowhere to go here." Malon gets off as well. "It's settled then." I help her carry some milk jugs to her house, then we put them in a cooling tank. "Thanks, Mike." I nod. "No problem." Well, it seems I've made a friend in this place after all. "Well, I'll show you to the guest room, follow me upstairs." We go upstairs to a hallway with four doors. She opens the one nearest to the stairway and points inside. "Here it is." I thank her and walk in, closing the door behind me. Throwing off my shoes, I plop on the bed and fall asleep.
"You're going to die, False Hero." It grabs the collar of my shirt and picks me up, before throwing me backwards. I grunt as I hit the ground, and I can feel my consciousness fading. "It's over." It readies its sword and prepares to do an ending blow, when three golden figures show up. "Replacement Hero, don't give up. Both worlds are counting on your newfound courage!" Din! Farore! Nayru! -
Chapter Three: To Battle! Help the Hylian Army, Mike!
I wake with a start and see Malon sitting in a chair next to the bed I'm laying in. "What's going on?" I ask, alarmed. Malon shrugs. "Do you usually sleepwalk?" She asks, concern written on her features. I shake my head no, sitting up and rubbing my head. "Well, you did last night. You eventually ended up in the center of the ranch, and you were screaming something about the golden Goddesses before you fell to the ground. Then, when you fell, I noticed that your hand had a glowing triangle, just like Link's." I take a second to process her story, then my eyes widen. "Link? Link who?" Malon looked into my eyes. "He's a freind of mine.." Then there was a small golden light coming from me, and it took a few seconds for me to figure out that the triangle was glowing on my hand. "What is this?" I say, alarmed once more. "The Triforce. Normally, its power is keeping the land peaceful, but that all changed three days ago. I saw Link disappear from view, then you appeared. I would have taken you here earlier, but I didn't know if you were friendly or not." I suddenly burst out laughing at her last few words. "Me? Dangerous? I can't see how you'd think that, but I do understand how you felt. I'm mostly still just a stranger to you." Quickly, Replacement Hero.. To the castle, and hurry.. A voice in my head tells me. I shift my legs to the side of the bed, finding and putting on my shoes. "Aw, are you leaving?" Malon asked, a hint of sadness in her voice. "I'll come back if you want me to, I just need to go somewhere." Malon nodded. "Okay. It's just that I find your company enjoyable, and it does get lonely here without anyone to talk to." I nod in understanding, then get off the bed and walk over to the door.
~~~
At around noon time, I'm standing in Castle Town again, staring at the sun. "It looks so much like my home dimension's.." I say, thinking back to just a few days ago. "Hey, kid!" I hear a gruff voice yell behind me. I move out of the way as a bunch of big guys carrying stuff walk in my direction. I realize I'm standing in front of the store, the Bazaar, and I make a goofy smile, embarrassed. "Sorry, I'll get out of your way." I move into the center of the town, sitting next to the fountain. I suddenly think back to the voice in my head earlier. Should I listen? I don't even know what's going on. But that voice sounded familiar.. "Mike! Hey!" I turn around to see Malon standing there, with a man, presumably her father. "Father, this is Mike, the one who destroyed those moblins yesterday and saved the town." The man leans forward and holds out his hand. "Hello, young man. My name is Talon, and I'm Malon's father." I take his hand, shaking it firmly. "Mike. A pleasure to meet you, sir." Talon laughs a little. "My my, a hero and a polite young man. Well, it was nice to meet you, but we have to go deliver milk to the castle." The castle! "Excuse me, Talon, but do you mind if I come along? I haven't been to the castle yet, and I'd like to be able to see it." Talon nods, patting my head. "Sure, you can come. Malon's told me that you're new to Hyrule, so we'll bring you along." I bow, grinning. "Thank you." We all begin walking, and I help carry a milk carton. When we get to the gate leading to the path to the castle, Talon talks to the guard, letting him know what our business is. I look at the castle itself in the distance, in awe. After a few more seconds, the guard says we're clear to go, and we all start walking again, up the path leading to the castle. "So, what do you think so far, Mike?" Talon asks me, smiling. "It's quite beautiful." I reply, looking at the ground a bit away from us. There's a little spot where a lot of different flowers are growing. We get to the front of the castle, and I can't help but let a big smile creep onto my face. "Wow!" We get to a door with a guard in front of it, and he opens it for us. We take the milk inside, and set it down in a fridge in a huge kitchen. I suddenly hear a voice again, with more instructions. Find a way to get to the princess's chamber, and show your face to her. Be careful of the guards, and be sneaky.. Good luck, Replacement Hero.. I look around and find a way out of the kitchen, and I take it, trying to stay hidden. I eventually come to the main garden within the castle, and I stop for a second to admire it's beauty. Then, I resume my current mission of Metal Gear Solid-ing my way around the castle, but I freeze when I hear someone yell, "Hey, you! Stop!" I feel a few guards grab my arms and start to carry me away. I remain silent as they take me, to where I haven't a clue.
~~~
They tell me that they have no idea who I am, and what I'm doing here. As the guards carry me, I overhear some parts of their conversation. "Take him.. princess needs to speak with him... danger.." I repeat some of that in my head. Princess? Danger? I quickly notice that they're taking me to the throne room of the castle, and I open my eyes wider. I grunt as the guards shove me into a kneeling position as I hear footsteps come closer and closer to me. "Who are you? What are you doing-" A woman starts, but gasps when she sees my face. "You!" I look into her eyes, speaking truthfullly. "My name is Mike, and I mean no harmful intent by sneaking around here. I was told to by a voice in my head." I say bluntly. "I also don't like the way these guards are gripping my arms. I mean no harm to them, you, or anyone here." The woman looks at my face, obviously reading my emotions to see if I'm telling the truth. "Well, it does seem like you are telling the truth, but you have intruded here. If you needed to seek an audience with me, you could have-" A loud, explosion like noise interrupted her. She took a look out of a huge window behind herself, and glared at no one in particular. "They're here! Guards, quick, to battle! As for this young man, leave him here for now." The woman orders, then everyone but her leaves to go outside. She, however, takes a long look at my face before motioning towards a sword in a sheathe on the throne. She then leaves, not uttering even a word. I watch as she leaves, confused as to what's going on. I then look at the sword she 'showed' me. I go over to the throne and unsheathe it, admiring it's dark purple hilt, the golden jewels on either side of it, and the light silver blade. I hold it up in the air and struggle a little at holding it. Then, a blue light unexpectedly covers the blade, and I can hear a clear voice in my head, the voice of a woman, it sounded. Replacement Hero, no, Mike, take this sword and rush outside to help the princess and her army. Don't worry about your current skills with the blade, his will soon transfer to you... With a grin on my face, I nod, suddenly feeling very courageous, and run outside. -
Chapter Four: The Encounter.
Taking a second to catch my breath, I look around to see Moblins everywhere. Raising my sword to the sky, I yell a fierce battle cry as I charge them, and all the soldiers turn to look at me as I charge a burst of energy into the sword. Slicing it at the air, the energy moves out of the blade and flies toward the group of Moblins, destroying them and leaving nothing behind. I run as I hear the princess scream, and block a blue Moblin's spear with my left hand. I grunt as I struggle, but then I manage to pull it away and throw it, before stabbing it in the chest. A blue light engulfs it, and then nothing remains. "You really are him, the one from my recent dreams.." I turn around and nod, holding out my hand. "Let's get you back on your feet, shall we?" She takes my hand and stands once more, bowing. "Thank you. Now, let's finish this fight." Together, we run forward, our weapons thrust out.
~~~
Amongst the shadows, an interloper lurks, watching the princess and the new hero fight. "Good thing I killed the other one, the one in green." It tells no one in particular. It studies them before it moves to a new position. "Maybe I should intervene soon, I'm craving a fight. Maybe that one can fight me." It watches the hero fight, but then notices the weapon he's carrying. "How did he get the Blade of Evil's Bane? I killed the green one, so how...?" It gasps in realization. "Cunning boy.." Slowly, ever so slowly, it creeps forward, drawing its weapon and waiting.
~~~
"Mike! Behind you!" I dodge at hearing the princess yell, then turn around to see someone dressed in black. I glare at him but then my eyes widen as my right arm is cut open, and I scream in pain. Jumping backward, I hear a laugh. "Silly human, you can't escape from me. I'm in the dark, lurking, watching, but I'm also within you, trying to break free of my prison." Grunting, I tear off my sweater sleeve and wrap it around the wound on my arm, cursing under my breath. "Who are you, and what do you want?" I ask it, glaring daggers at it. "I used to be a shade of Link, but now that he's dead, I'm a shade of you! And as for what I want, well, I want you dead.." The princess hands me a bottle of red liquid, ushering me to drink it. When I do, my wound disappears, but the pain is still there. I pull my hood up as I prepare to battle. -
Chapter Four: Hidden Strength.
"You go and finish things with the enemies. I'll take care of this guy." Confidently, I smirk, staring at the shadow of myself. I hear her whisper something, then run off to reunite with the soldiers. "Such misplaced courage, faker. I will enjoy taking you down." We both ready our weapons, his looks exactly like mine, but completely covered in black. I breathe in deeply as we slowly circle each other, my tension slowly increasing every second. After a few moments more, it yells before it rushes me, lunging at me and hitting my left arm. I stay still and take the hit, concentrating on finding an opening to its defense. I see it and trip dark me while raising my weapon, screaming as I thrust forward and pierce through its chest. I pull my weapon out and slash its arms a bunch of times, aiming for the muscles controlling my shadow's arms. Then, a realization dawns on me. I come to the conclusion that I haven't missed a single strike since beginning the fight with my dark self. I don't have time to think though, as he punches me in the stomach. I lose my breath briefly, but it's enough for my shadow to push me away and lunge at me again. I try to dodge but my timing is off, and he slices my cheek open. I grunt as the pain hits me, and I step back a bit, biting the inside of my cheek. Taking a moment to catch my breath, I notice that my dark self is nowhere to be found, and I look around quickly. I hear rustling from behind me, but I pretend not to notice. Lowering my sword, I hold it out behind me, as I prepare to use a new attack that just came to me. Right as I hear footsteps running at me, the sword glows blue, and in a brilliant flash of light, I swing around on my feet, the sword still pointing outward. I can feel as my weapon connects with dark me's body, taking a little bit of black blood with it. I smile triumphantly as it screams in pain, eventually becoming quiet. "Damn you, faker. I didn't think you were this strong.." My shadow says, before its body disappears. "This is not the last you'll see of me. No, we'll meet again... in your world!" Then everything becomes deathly quiet, and I look up to see the bright sun flashing down on me, and I notice how beautiful the day has become. Sheathing my weapon, I smile as the princess runs up to me, along with some of the soldiers. "Are you okay?" She asks me, looking at my wounds worriedly. "I'm fine, it's just a bunch of scratches, really." I tell her, pulling my hood down to reveal the scratch on my cheek. I look down at my right hand, and notice the tri-something glowing. What could that mean? I ask myself, in my head. As we all walk back to the castle, neither I nor the princess notice the black liquid that is slowly covering the hilt of my sword...
~~~
"I've done it, oh Master." It says, standing in the in-between dimension. "I've given that faker the virus. Now, he won't stand to be a threat for much longer..." Another voice speaks in an impatient tone. "How much longer? And when can I go to his dimension and cause mayhem, my loyal minion?" It rubs its head, thinking. "It should take just twenty-four hours to take effect. You could go any time, though, in your current condition, I don't think you'll do much. You lack a body, Master." The other voice sighs. "Right. I guess I can wait until I possess his body, then..." -

Chapter Six: The Princess Hears The News of The Chosen Hero.
"I'm making you an official knight, now." The princess tells me with a happy tone to her voice. "I'm hugely grateful, but do I have to wear this uncomfortable armor?" I ask, massaging my shoulder. "It's kind of heavy, and I'm pretty sure I won't even need it." She sighs, taking a seat on the throne. "It's just for the celebration. You can take it off after." I sigh in relief, then open my eyes wide. "Celebration?" She nods. "Because if you weren't out there, a ton more lives would have been lost before it was over." Taking a comical step backward, I laugh nervously. "Well, I couldn't sit back and just let everyone get hurt. That wouldn't be right, and I was blessed by the Goddesses.." She got up and smiled at me. "Humble like he was!" She exclaimed. "You mean that guy, Link was it?" I asked with some curiosity, scratching my head as I realize something. "Was he the last hero?" I think back to before I woke up in Hyrule, and I remember the man I saw.
"Hey, are you okay?!" He doesn't move, but instead of just letting him sit there, I yell for somebody to call an ambulance. "You.. take my Courage and defeat Him..." What left his lips was barely a whisper, but I heard him nonetheless. "H-Him?" Before I could react, his hands wrapped around my right wrist, and he smiled up at me. "I sense that you have tremendous courage already, so mine will only add to yours. I only ask you to keep her safe, as well as my homeland..." His eyes grow dark and lifeless as he fades from the mortal coil, and I can't even speak as this goes on. "No..." I whisper, seeing somebody die with my own eyes for the first time leaving me completely speechless. The Triangle appears on the back of my right hand, and I slowly close my eyes as the world around me grows dark and empty. Right before I pass out, something escapes my lips. "I'll avenge you, oh Fallen Hero.."
"...Hello, Earth to Mike?" I come back from my zoning out, and I look to the ground as she asks me about what happened to Link. "He's dead..." She takes a second to register what I just said, then tears well up in her eyes. "How...?" She just sinks to the ground, letting out a few tears. Taking a quick step over to her, I kneel next to her and hug her. "Princess, he asked me to keep you safe before he left the world. I'm intending on doing that, of course." She leaned into me as she kept crying, stopping once every few seconds to apologize. "There's no need, if I lost the one I love, I'd be doing the same thing." She says nothing then, just silently weeping. -
Chapter Seven: Gearing Up For An Adventure.
"Zelda." I look at her, confused. "I trust you enough for you to be able to call me by my first name, which is Zelda." I nod. "Okay." After a minute more, Zelda pulled away from me, wiping her tears. "I'll be okay. Don't worry." She gives me a genuine smile. "Alright, now that that's been dealt with, I need to ask you something about Hyrule." She looks at me curiously. "What do I pay with to get things?" My stomach growls intensely, as if on cue. "Actually, not only for food, I may need some new clothes, something to use for my defense against monsters, and etcetera." Zelda laughed lightheartedly. "You've been here only about three days, I forgot. The currency of this land happens to be called Rupees, and they range in color. But don't worry about that, anything you need I'll pay for." She points to the door. "Let's go, shall we?" She leads the way out, and I follow her.
~~~
On our way into Castle Town, we stopped at a restaurant and ate, my dish consisting of rabbit meat, mashed potatoes, and corn. It was so good that I had about five plates, in about half the time it took for Zelda to eat two platefulls. Afterwords, she payed for everything and we left, me feeling slightly guilty. "Are you sure this is okay? I don't want you to have to spend too much on me." Zelda nodded. "It's truly no problem. Besides, you need this and I'm not one to deny anyone of help." I look at her. "You are a great ruler, I can tell. Your people must admire you deeply." We stopped outside the Bazaar, and Zelda was looking at me. "It's true, they do admire me. And everyone does say that I am a great ruler. I want what's best for my people, and the land. But then, those monsters just appeared out of nowhere one day.." I take a bow before looking into her eyes. "Zelda, don't worry about that. I also promised Link that I'd keep the land free from danger as well. I never break my promises, so you have my word that I'd die before I let anything happen to Hyrule, its people, or you." Zelda grinned from ear to ear. "Thank you. And you have my word that I'll back you up when you need it. I won't let you die, you know." A smile creeps its way onto my face, and I nod.
~~~
"Okay, what do you think?" The blacksmith asked me, showing me a shelf full of shields. There's a bunch of blank, colorless ones, but another one catches my interest. The red crest on it mimics a bird's wings, and the three Golden Triangles are at the top of it. The area behind the red design is a light shade of blue, and the outline of the shield is a light silvery color. I point to it. "What do you call that one?" The blacksmith smiles proudly. "That one is called the Hylian Shield. It is said to have originally been crafted by a dragon, and it will never break. The best of the best!" I eye it and look to Zelda. "That's the one." She nods and pays the blacksmith eighty Rupees for it. Pretty expensive, but it will never break. "Thanks! Now then, let me tell you something interesting, adventurer." I look to the blacksmith. "There's a mechanism on that shield that makes it stick to certain metals, like your sword's scabbard. If you place it on the scabbard, it will stick to it and leave your arm free to do whatever. It's pretty useful." I look curiously at the shield. "Does it really?" Before waiting for him to answer, I undo the straps holding sword and sheath to my back, and take hold of it. I place the shield over it and it becomes fixated in place. "That's amazing!" When I pull on the shield, it easily slides off into my hand, like it hadn't been stuck a moment before. I strap both sword and shield to my back, taking a moment to get used to the weight on my back. "That is really good design." A few moments later, we wave goodbye and leave the shop. After we turn to the route to the castle, Zelda sighs. "I'm going to have to go back now. I have to watch over Hyrule and everything." I kneel in front of her. "Thank you for everything you've done for me." She smiles. "Likewise, Hero." She turns and waves a final goodbye before she goes back to the castle. "Okay, now, to start the real test.." I take off through the town, running to the front gate. "It's time for my adventure to finally begi-" I grunt as a wave of pain radiates through my right arm. I look at it and gasp. My arm looks darker, and before I know it, the pain becomes too much, and I fall to the ground, unconscious.. -
Chapter Eight: The Death And Rebirth Of The New Hero.
"Impa, is he awake yet?" A panicked voice asked. "No, My Grace, but his eyelids have begun fluttering. That's a good sign." Zelda was the one who asked, and the other person, Impa I supposed, was the one keeping watch on me. When I slowly opened my eyes, they both moved closer to me. "Are you all right, Mike? How are you feeling?" Impa pulled her away. "Now now, let's give him space. You do see that he has an infection don't you?" My mind was snapped awake when I heard that. "Infection?!" I looked down at myself, and saw the black stuff from earlier. But, I was shocked and slightly scared to see that it had coved not just my right arm, but the rest of my body was slowly being engulfed into it. "Calm down, young man. I fear that if you move too much, you'll only speed up the process. However, I can't be too sure of that, considering this is nothing like the infections I have ever seen." Impa said, obviously confused on what it was that I had. "Like nothing?" That didn't sound too good to me, so I tried my best to calm down. "What do you suppose we do, Your Grace?" She asked Zelda, who was thinking up a storm. "I just don't know. I've never seen this kind of disease either, and I don't want to risk potentially injuring him by moving him. I-" I let out a scream as a huge wave of pain trembles throughout my body. "It won't do any good to just leave him in this state. I shall go see if there is a doctor in town." Impa opened the door to the place we're in, and exits quickly, shutting the door behind herself. Zelda sits near the front of the bed I am laying in, and tries her best not to cry. "I'm scared Mike, I don't want you to die. You've been a really great friend to me, and then this had to happen to you..." I breathe in slowly, trying to move my hand to her. "Don't worry, I'll be fine. At least, I hope so.." My hand reaches hers, and she grabs it before she starts crying. "It will be all right, I-" I flinch and scream as something inside me hurts, the pain almost knocking me unconscious. As I struggle to breathe, the door bursts open. "I've found a doctor!" Impa said.
~~~
The doctor stepped out with Impa, closing the door behind them. "I don't know what that was, but it looks like it will be fatal.. I predict that he has only a few hours left before he.." Impa nodded. "Thank you, anyway." The doctor then left, leaving Impa to give them the news. "This is going to be bad.."
~~~
I watch as Impa comes through the door, waiting patiently for news of my condition. "What did he say?" Zelda asks her, looking scared. "What I have to tell you is not going to be easy for you to take. But, he said he didn't know what it was, and that he predicted that Mike has only a few hours left to live.." Impa said, looking at me. I say nothing as I let the gravity of her words sink in, and then as another wave of pain washes over me, something doesn't feel right. Instead of going away shortly, the pain I'm experiencing starts to feel worse. For around ten minutes, screaming and writhing on the bed, my vision begins to cloud over, and my body goes numb. I hear something, but can't make out the words, as Zelda and Impa come closer, Zelda looking like she was going to cry again.
~~~
Hours pass, and my vision does not come back, but rather it worsens. The pain has moved into a numbing sensation, so I don't scream every time it hits me. I suddenly feel a strange sensation run up my spine, and I can tell something. I'm dying, and I know it. The air around me feels cold, and I stop trying to breathe. However, I try to say one last thing before the darkness takes me. "Z-Zelda.. don't cry." No sooner than I finish that, my body becomes light, and I feel nothing. As my soul leaves my body, something red enters.
~~~
"Micheal, why have you perished?" One of the Goddesses asks me, not knowing the reason why. "Had to be something that Dark Mike did. I was fine before I fought him." My voice comes from nowhere, it seems. The Goddesses all come closer, showing me something. "Speaking of him.." Something small and square appears, like a tv screen, and it shows me the image of.. my body?! "What the..?" One of the Goddesses picks up my soul, which looks like a small bright green ball, and takes me somewhere. "I think it's time that you return, don't you? We know your body was taken over, but it's too badly injured for you to take it back. So, we'll make you a new one." Something about that made me really happy. "Oh, thank you Din, Nayru, Farore!" Their golden forms were shining for a moment, then Din said, "Think of the form you want, and imagine what you want to look like." An image comes to me, and Din asks, "Is that what you want to look like, final answer?" As the form materializes, I say, "Yes." As all the details of my choosing form, Nayru picks my soul up. "I shall now prepare you to enter this vessel. Let your thoughts become blank, and then you can take on your form." Doing exactly as she says, my vision changes, and then I open my new eyes. Standing taller than I have ever been able to, I look down at the rest of me, taking my looks in. Exactly as I imagined it. My bright green eyes focus on all of them, and I bow. "I deeply and sincerely thank you. I hated being stuck in my short body. But, there's something that I now want changed, if you don't mind.." They laughed, and Farore asked, "What is it?" Turning my eyes to her, I reply, "Can I have long ears, like the Hylians? I think they'd look good for my new reborn body." As if on cue, my ears grew a little longer, but they were still halfway covered by my long black hair. "Much better, thank you. Now please, send me back to Hyrule. My fight awaits me!" -
Chapter Nine: The Return.
Opening my eyes slowly, I see that I am standing in the room I was last in, and I notice that nobody is there. Taking my equipment off of the floor, I realize that my clothes have changed as well. I look down at myself. I am wearing a green tunic, white pants, shin high boots, a white under shirt, brown gauntlets on my arms, and a long green cap. That is what Link used to wear. It's the clothing of the Hero of legend. I smile after hearing that. "Something Link wore? Cool." I strap the Master Sword and Hylian Shield to my back and open the door, running out to an empty hallway. But not all is empty, as I quickly spot something moving from a distance. I pick up my pace and run over to the shadow, ready to attack. I stop as I hear Zelda's voice, coming from the floor. "Zelda? Are you okay?" I kneel beside her and nearly jump as she screams. "Stay back, I'm warning you!" She summons a sword, a rapier, and points it at my throat, but then stops when she sees my clothing, and my new body. "Wait, who are you?" She didn't lower her weapon, but I could hear the calm coming form her voice. "I suppose you wouldn't recognize me from my appearance. But it's me, Mike." My voice seems to calm Zelda down more, as she lowers her rapier. "Mike? But how? And why do you look so different?" Taking a second to breathe, I say, "After I died, I met Din, Nayru, and Farore. They showed me what was happening back here. They decided to give me a new body, and the Hero's Clothing." Zelda stopped for a second to take in what I told her, then nodded. "I think your shadow took over your body, and teleported somewhere. Wherever they went, I don't think anyone will be safe.." I unsheathe the Master Sword and clutch it with both hands, raising it into the air. A green glow fills the blade, and I slash at the air, causing something to rip open. Something that appears to be a portal materializes, and I step forward, somehow knowing where it was going to take me. "Where does that lead to..?" Zelda asks, a hint of worry in her voice. "Back to my world." Turning around, I nearly trip as Zelda rushes over to me, hugging me and crying slightly. "Will you come back..?" I nod and hug her back briefly, before waving goodbye as I walk through the portal and into the darkness...

When the darkness fades away, my eyes burst open as I hear someone scream. "It's another one of those monsters!" A female voice yells. I glance around quickly and notice that I'm back in downtown Brantford, the sun nearly done setting on the horizon. "I'm not a monster, nor am I here to harm anyone. I just need to ask something. Have any of you seen a short kid with brown hair and dark green eyes?" Several people stop to think, but then one approaches me. "He was here a day ago. He left and said that he was visiting some people who were important to him." I start sprinting, waving behind myself. "Damn, I knew it!" Not stopping to look for cars, I run across multiple streets and almost get hit three times. After about five minutes, I stop in front of a blue apartment complex. "Hopefully nothing bad happened to them.." I say, as I enter the second furthest house to the right, my house.

"So Mike, what happened when you disappeared four days ago?" Someone says, and I notice that it's my mother's voice. Silently closing the door, I open my mouth to reply but then I'm interrupted. "I lost track of time and stayed at a friend's house. We went over this like seven times already." Stalking around the corner, I look into the kitchen and quietly gasp when I see my old body, sitting at the table, eating dinner with my family. Without thinking, I slowly back out, quietly opening the door and walking out, and closing the door behind me. Taking a moment to think, I climb the building using some vines that weren't there when I was here last, and open the window to my room. Climbing inside, I pace around silently for a few seconds, then just sit on my bed and wait, wait for it to come up here.

About four hours later, I hear footsteps coming up the stairs, and I quickly and quietly move behind the door leading into my room. As the door opens, I stay absolutely quiet as it enters, and watch intently as it sits on my bed. I close the door not a moment later, and glare as it jumps up, eyes wide. I smirk as I close the distance between us and cup my hand over its mouth. "Hey dark me. It's been a while, hasn't it?" My shadow tries to break out of my grip, but my hold on it is like iron. "You aren't getting away from me that easily, you know. I could just kill you right now, but I want answers. So, speak." As I lift my hand form its mouth, it tries to scream, but I kick it in the stomach. "No, answer my questions, a--hole. What are you doing in my home?" It mumbles something, and I punch it's head. "Had to stay here, my Master told me." I kick him in the stomach again, growling. "Why? And what 'master'?" It doesn't answer, and instead looks behind me. "What are you doing to my brother?!" A familiar voice asks from behind me. I turn around and gasp, seeing someone I knew. "Brandan?!"
