Lara sighed and pulled herself away from Axel. "Tomorrow is a raid.. So be ready buddy." She said quietly, feeding him an apple from the bag next to his stall. The words where said to him yet it felt like it was ment for her. Lara sighed quietly and walked out of the stables and back up the path. Her fingers brushed across the tall rose bushes she passed before they stopped half way up the path. With thoughts of tomorrow clouding her heard Lara failed to see anyone or anything around her. She slid into the house and locked the door before going to her own room and buring into the quilted blankets. It didn't take long for her to sleep.
Marcus gaze shifted after the pale blinded headed girl going into the house. He was looking aroun for anything but it all seemed clear. Maybe.. Standing up slowly his grey trench coat whispered around his legs. His ice cold blue eyes scanned the area once more before walking to retrieve his hidden mount. A blood bay stallion looked at him as he approached. "Let's go." He rumbled, brushing his dark brown hair from his eyes as he climbed. With a soft click of the tounge the horse started walking away. After they got a goo distance away Marcus put the horse into a run. He always did things like this, creep aroun for any danger when he couldn't sleep. Soon they got into the out skirts of a town and before them was a little wooden cottage. Stabling his horse in the mini stable, Marcus walked inside and past the kitchen and living room before going down a small hall way and into a bedroom. Sighing as he kicked his clothes off he slid into bed. It wasn't long before flames danced in his head but this time he didn't wake up. -
The sun glistened on the morning dew in the blades of grass and green leaves of the flowers. Lara woke up with a start, listening as feet and muffled voices started to get ready for the day. She stood and started to find something to wear. She pulled on her dark brown pants and dark blue button up shirt that she tucked in her pants and her brown cowboy boots. Pulling on her brown coat she ran a brush through her long hair and walked out into the hall way. Once it the kitchen she plopped down at the table and a plate of eggs was slid in front of her. "Thanks Ma'am." She said looking up to a older looking woman. She was slightly plump with a pile of silver hair in a bum on top of her head and warm brown eyes. The older woman smiled, crinkle line at the corner of her mouth and eye due to years of laughing and smiling. "Anytime Lara. Now you eat it all ya hear? We need you too keep your strength up." She smiled and went back to the stove. Lara watched Mrs. Lanchester, Docs wife, as she cooked before going back to the food before her. It appeared everyone else had already aten except her and she didn't mind. It was warm and welcoming in the kitchen, and Mrs. Lanchester helped make it as so.

Rising up from the chair Lara put the dish into the sink and looked out the window that over looked the barn. Men where spilling in and then coming right back out with horses or riding them. A older looking man with thick silver hair and dark blue eyes set into tanned skin that was marked with crinkles sat upon a silver horse that matched his hair. Golden goggles sat upon his head making his hair stick up slightly. "Did Doc say anything?" Lara asked Mrs. Lanchester quietly. "To me? Heavens no. He dosen't want me into all this business expect to play mother and I'm alright with that." The older woman smiled and looked at the younger girl. Lara nodded and gently hugged her, "I'll come back safe and sound." She promised before walking out the door.
-
The hot blaze of the Kenntucky air hit her face first. Then a slow breath of cool air brushed past her. Sighing quietly Lara walked towards the barn and chose not to look at anyone. Once in the hot but comfort of the barn she walked down to her horse's stall and walked inisde with the wild mustang. He nickered softly and bumped her shoulder with his big snout. "I know I know." She huffed and started to gear him up. Before anything else went on she place a light sheet of metal chain mail that covered a good amount of the horses body expect his legs. Then she placed everything else over him and led the great beast outside and into the unforgiving sun.

She was odd. She was different, even for a Dark Dweller. She wanted to leave. Her friends, if she had any, didn't understand why.
Why.
She knew it was impossible. Only one man had ever escaped before. And that was before they had soldiers patrolling the border. He was why. Since his escape, the empire had done everything within their ability to eradicate all evidence of his existence. But she knew. She had found his memory.
She wanted to go to the Light.
She was the only one who loved the idea of the Light. She was the only one who looked forward to the last day of each week, when the School would tell stories of the Light. Some would be traumatized by the tales. -
The School knew not of the man. They told the tales because they were told to. They students, teachers, and even the headmistress thought they were to tell the stories so that they could make the Dark communities as different from the Light as possible.
She knew this was crap.
They told the stories to discourage escape. But the School was not aware of the existence of the escaped.
She would have been horrified of the Light, if the stories had been true. But she was familiar with the workings of the King's mind. She was able to separate the filling of falsehood and see the truth. -
This is why she looked forward to the lesson.
The teachers were unsettled by her seeming joy at the time of the class, but they were tools. They were told to report any unusual findings, so they reported. The next week, she didn't go to the stories.
She was to be locked in a closet.
Her peers may have been interested in why she didn't go, or perhaps they were just as unsettled as the teachers. Whatever the case, she knew why. The entire point of the class was to inspire fear of the light, and to discourage escape. Others were ignorant, but she knew.
They took her out because she wanted to escape.
She didn't know how.
But she was going to escape. -

Lara lifted a hand to cover her eyes and shade her eyes from the sun. A muscular form blocked the sun and she lowered her arm to look into the chest of a sleek light brown paint horse. Lara knew this horse well, she then turne her attention on to the rider. A young man about twenty gazed back down at her with warm calf brown eyes and shaggy brown hair. He reminded Lara of a cute puppy. "Hey, I got you something when I went into town yesterday." He mused and fished in the saddle bag before pulling out a small object. He handed it down to her and it turned out to be a pretty bright golden colored bandana. It was laced with white swirls and flowers. "Thank you Cass.." She smiled up at him. It really was nice of him. Most people ignored or or when they did talk to her they seemed akward. Cass was one of her good friends and few of them. She tied the bandana around her face so it covered just bellow her nose and her throat. Putting her foot into the stirrup she lifted herself up and over her horses back. Once settled in she looked around and saw everyone else putting on their bandannas. All of them were dark reds or dark colored. Hers stood out and she grinned at Cass even thought he wouldn't be able to see it.
-
Lara did a quick head count, fifteen people including herself and Cass. It was a sizable group for a small town they were about to hit. Doc pulled ahead of the group and looked around, he wore a black bandana around his face and his narrowed eyes didn't miss anything. Soon everyone else fell into line around him so they created a V shape, like a birds flock. Lara took the middle and Cass stood behind her.
-
Doc looked them over and narrowed his blue eyes. His gaze landed on Lara and she couldn't help but wiggle under his gaze. After a moment he looked away and lifted his hand into the air, making a fist and then leaving his index finger, he pointed towards the north and they were off. The group stayed close together, no one was excastly talking at the moment. Tension and curiosity rolled over the group like a storm cloud. Lara looked ahead of her. A darker toned man rode his white and brown horse with a grace that almost all of them had. He was older, and had a air around him that dared others to talk to him. In reality, Lara knew he was something of a big sweet heart. Lara had talked to him a few times and found him to be more of 'talk later' kind of guy. His name was Josh Revin. Infront of Josh, the right hand man of Doc was a tanned cowboy with dark brown hair and a well muscled back from Lara's veiw. He was younger then the Doc but older then the rest of them. That was James Franks. He was a warmer hearted guy but he could snap a neck within seconds. Lara had found this out when she almost gotten taken by a few rowdy hunters. That had been fun.. Not.

Characters so far:
Lara: She's the main character who dosen't have memory of who she was 'pre-metal' as she calls it. The only thing she knew was her name. Now she lives with Doc and The Gears. She is suppost to change the world but she dosent want to be anything but a normal girl. Kinda hard when everyone sees you as a robotic freak, well half-robotic freak.
Cass: A young Gear who mostly works with rounding and taking stock. One of the nicer ones he tends to be shy around Lara and is best friends with her. He really likes her but won't say a word. Nothing but a big teddy bear with an open heart.
Doc: Lead of The Gears he tends to be quiet and calculating. He dedicates his time to proving that the world can be changed if we let it. He has a big soft spot for Lara and small children but pushes Lara to do her best. He hopes to show someone how to create steam based things.
Marcus: A long wolf. A hit man. Not much is known about this scarred man except he's good at his job and won't rest until it's done. He's a netural, not a Gear nor stuck in the Past.
Josh Revin: A quiet guy with a quick set of hands, he tends to keep to himself but once you warm him up he will be more then gladly to talk. Just don't make him mad..
James Franks: Doc's right hand man and also Cass's father. He keeps an eye out for Lara and Cass for they are the youngest of the group. He can be a hot head but trys to stay cool.
