I've heard word that Puerto Rico is going to become a state soon enough.
Ahh. I'm going to miss Puerto Rico just being commonwealth. It just causes more state capitals and state names for me to remember. -

Yeah, I heard something about them having to change the language to English if they are going to become a state.
Puerto Rico doesn't have to do this, being common wealth the people born there still get papers to come into America.
That and that's too much change. xP -

Rick Santorum said Peurto Rico should adopt English if it becomes a state, citing a federal law that doesn't actually exist. I hadn't heard anything about Puerto Rico becoming a state, but if we consider them to be part of our country, we should let them vote in presidential elections and send members to Congress like the states we currently have.

The USA is a pushover to all of its common wealth's. There's a reason that none of them have ever become a state. Even though most of them hold that vote every few years. As a common wealth, they get all the rights of US citizens, they get our government's protection, they get all of the benefits of being a state, but they don't have to pay our taxes. The way our laws are set up, they get to milk the system without consequences.
