STUPID ASS BLANK POSTS o.o
Anyways:
A friend and I realized somethign about our class. We could, as a whole, bedivided into three groups, White, Brown, or Asian. I happen to be in all and none at once.
Now, the problem was, when we were counting the white people, this girl interrupts me (who, first of, wasn't even part of the conversation) and says, "I'm not white, I'm Jewish."
Seriously?
Judaism is not a race. You do NOT come from Jewland. You were not born the color of a Jew. I don't see JEWISH written on my Crayola colors. YOU ARE WHITE, GOD DAMNIT.
It's like a freaking black person saying, "I'm not black, I'm Christian."
C'MON PEOPLE: Religion and race are two DIFFERENT things. Get this into your god damn heads so that I don't rip your heads off the next time I hear such a stupid statement.
JESUS. -
im not sure if im suppose to laugh.. but i did im sorry but i found it funny..in a way
-
Jews originate from the land of Israel, but over time they've become so mixed, especially with Europeans, that they pretty much are white.
-
FLgirl92 NewbieThe definition of who is white and who isn't seems to change alot. A hundred years ago, my English ancestors wouldn't have thought of my Irish ancestors as white. What I learned taking Sociology in college is that race is a concept and not a fact. I just wish everyone would figure that out. I have an 11 year old cousin who is biracial, half-white and half-Filipino, and she gets picked on for it alot. Just one of the perks of living in Jacksonville, dealing with the idiot kids of racist rednecks.

You also don't see "Asian" written as a color. :P Also, it's extremly rude to classify people that way. Why would you compare someone to a color? Those terms aren't correct or polite and I find it irritating when people speak about others that way. "White" is a color. Not a race. What you might be thinking of is caucasian. Asain actually is correct. "Black" is really African American. :P
-
Actually Teresa, the most least offensive term apparently that you can use is 'black', not every black person is from Africa and saying 'African-Canadian' here in Canada is a tad stupid.
-
How bout we just classify each other simply as 'American' and 'Canadian' without all the prefixes? xP
-
FLgirl92 NewbieI'm on board with Ana's idea.
-
I thought Jews were middle eastern? Maybe I'm ignorant.
-
They are middle eastern, but that doesn't necessarily mean they're brown. Judaism is a religion: not all Christians are white, not all Jewish folk are brown-er. I doubt you're ignorant, Appa :)
@Teresa: No, Asian isn't written on Crayola, but I didn't use the term "Yellow", now did I? Also, you say it's extrmely rude to identify people with a color, but do you really, honestly refer to a person you've just met and don't know their name as, "That Caucasian fellow?" "The one with Arabic and or another South Asian origin?" If so, good for you: I salute you for your commitment to respect. For most us, it's too many syllables, not to mention it is accepted in society. We live in a world where people just so happen to be colorful, and if society accepts us in pointing it out, then so be it. -
xXLionessHeartXx NewbieWhere I live, we don't really use terms like 'Caucasian'. Granted, I'm in Europe so there's a lot of 'white' folks, though we can usually tell if they're Romanian, Hungarian, Greek, ect. unless you're mixed. :P And since we have a good amount of immigrants from Turkey here, one who looks more Middle Eastern is usually thought of to be Turkish.
Anyway, like Anastasia said, most would just go by Romanian is they identified with the culture, despite their actual background. -
@Lioness: First off, nice to meet you. Second, where in Europe? I'm Canadian :)
-
I'm sorry. I was having some issues with racism earlier, so I was mad and was rude. I'm sorry if I offended anyone, I should've thought about the real point before posting.
-
@Teresa: Hey, no worries: no need to be sorry! We all have our days. Besides, I doubt you were out to offend anyone, and you have a right to your own opinion :)
