Thread Topic: Why is it that everyone become a mod nowadays?

I mean, I don't mean this in a snotty way, but you think you've got the qualifications to become mod? Are you going to get on your friend's side if there is a heated argument/fight? Is that what you want to do as moderator?
Now now, I was just giving an example (and that one is the case with one of the more recently-joined users, "recently" as in: Just joined this month.)
Why is it that you want to become a mod, anyway? (i'm curious). You want to deal with spammers or do you just want control over the site? It's just a question. Sorry for this being long, but I am just curious. -
*The title was meant to be "Why does everyone want to become a mod nowadays?"

Alright. Let me break it down for you. A moderator only has so much power. A moderator only has the ability to mark posts and nothing else. All they're asked to do is combat spam. So they don't really have any control over the site, because there's like, 9 moderators already and no one overpowers the other.
I, personally, would listen to both sides in an argument. I'll be honest, I'll pick a side, as would most others, but I'd tell both people to calm down and separate and drop the subject. I'm not gonna lie. Sometimes I do pick sides and sometimes I make decisions and act upon who I think is right. I'm not perfect. I'm a pretty judgmental person. And sometimes I do have a bias. But I'll do my best to resolve the conflict all in all and I'll recognize when even my really close friend is wrong.
A lot of people want to become a moderator to be able to help out. A lot of moderators already have fallen inactive and we just wanna try and make it like it was when the mods were first appointed- Active and effective. At least, that's what I wanna do. I just wanna help out. And I feel like I have some to most of the attributes necessary to becoming a moderator.
But who knows? Maybe some people are power hungry. -
I wouldn't want to be a mod to "rule/control" GTQ, I'd just get rid of the trolls.
-
Oh, I get what you mean. Yes, nobody is perfect, and that's pretty humble of you (to admit bias). You're honest about it. You aren't a moderator, are you?
Yeah, I've heard that most mods are not active. :/
Okay, that's what I was starting to think, but maybe it's just because I am kind of perplexed about things. I see things and words with a further meaning than its surface. But again, I thought there was an oversized gummy bear glaring at me when it was only a heavyset girl. (yeah, that was pretty bogus to say, but that was I though). -
nah, i'm not a mod
thanks though -
This is irrelevant somewhat but currently the status of the moderators:
Kish (Partially active)
Dark22978 (Active)
Appayipyip42 (Gone)
timothy4444 (?)
Carri04 (Gone)
barberbob2 (?)
The Coldest Sun (Active)
Anastasia (?)
mcqueen (Gone)
Selena112 (Active)
Three openly said they quit, or would not have time. ? means I'm unaware of where they are or how they feel about being a moderator. -
Ana left.

I just want to be a mod because a few reasons.
there are way too many mods missing. We need to fill open spaces. Iv been here for a few years and i think i deserve at least a shot at the position. Besides, even the mods who do go around on here arent that active. but to be fair, they probably have important lives outside. I myself am pretty active, so i'll likely be able to spot spam more often than some others. other than that, i dont really think theres anything else. I mean, my post record is pretty clean. my post time is 15 seconds so i must be doing something right.
And id take the side of whoever is right, even if theyre my enemy. itd suck, but justice aint easy. -
Well what I didn't mean that everyone who wanted to become mod would want to overpower the site. It was just a thought that popped up in my mind, but it was just a thought. I know a recently-joined-as-of-this-month who wants to become mod. But that won't happen. @Mini
No, no, don't worry about it being irrelevant. In a way, it is relevant. So what you helped clear up is who are mods and their status. That helps see things in a different light. @Dark
I did notice that there were mods missing. I heard and I was thinking of users who would genuinely make good mods. You do have good reasons. You've been here for years, so that's a good qualification you have. I like that you said you'd side of whoever is right, even if they are you're enemy. That's a good thing. I see your point of wanting to become mod. @absol heart -
Not everyone wants to be a mod.
-
they're speaking in general, ghetto
a lot of people want to be a mod -
I would be a mod if I had more experience with GTQ. But, until then, godofminecraft and therealminime for mod!
-
As Br0wnie just said, I was speaking in general. I know that not everyone wants to be a mod, but in general, there is. Sorry for not making that clear. :P
-
O1, you would still have to have the other qualifications. Being here long enough and knowing the site left and right, up and down, to and fro, pro and con...well, that's not all you need to become a mod.
