Personally, I don't really mind it. I don't see why people get so worked up about it.
Its not ruining the series, its not hurting them in anyway, its not insulting (unless they're being rude or mean but that's another story), so why get so worked up? -
I do CanonxOC with a few of my own OCs
As someone who ships that type of stuff, honestly, it doesn't really bother me. The only reasons it would bother me is if it interferes with an already canon relationship, if the OC is really poorly made like a Mary Sue, and if the characters are whoring/manwhoring.
That last one only tends to bother me, though, if it isn't done separately. (ex: I would hate it if the OC is dating canon character 1 while f---ing canon character 2. If it's not connected in any way, I don't mind. x3) -
I forgot about the whoring and Mary-Sue stuff. :P
