I liked this quiz; it brought up some interesting discussions. I liked that the questions were so vague, because it allowed me to interpret the answers in my own way. (Rather than a specific scenario with answers that clearly align with each of the four houses).
For comparisons sake, I think its interesting that I am a Ravenclaw-Thunderbird. These houses don't directly correlate, but Ilvermorny is not a foreign replica of Hogwarts. This school was founded much later on and its founder would likely have looked at other known schools and learned from their mistakes and successes.

What is a Thunderbird?
Is it like a Gryffindor?-
The following quote is from a site with great explanations of the Ilvermorny houses.
"The four Ilvermorny Houses have been described as each representing a different part of the human being; Horned Serpent represents the mind and favors scholars; Wampus represents the body and favors warriors; Pukwudgie represents the heart and favors healers; Thunderbird represents the soul and favors adventurers. Whereas Hogwarts Houses describe which traits you value above all else, Ilvermorny Houses describe who you are and how you define yourself."
Here's the link to the site if you want to look into it more. Pottermore also has articles and quizzes on this topic.

In my opinion this is how the Ilvermorny houses align with the Hogwarts houses:
Horned Serpent (Mind/Scholars): RAVENCLAW
Wampus (Body/Warriors): GRYFFINDOR
Pukwudgie (Heart/Healers): HUFFLEPUFF
Thunderbird (Soul/Adventurers): GRYFFINPUFFIlvermorny was founded in 1624, whereas Hogwarts was founded in 990 A.D. and the American school's houses seem to be more well rounded while its British counter-part was created with the purpose of building a story based on good vs. evil.
Something I find especially interesting is that while Hogwarts allows the witch/wizard in question to choose any house despite the advice of the sorting hat, at Ilvermorny, they must be approached by the statue of the house to be accepted. One can be approached by multiple statues in which case they would chose which house to join.
-
Additionally, if they are not approached by any statue they would not be able to attend the school. If they do not align with any of the Ilvermorny houses they will not be approached. This weeds out those who are solely out for power or have darkness in their sole (i.e. those best suited to the Slytherin stereotypes would not be welcome here). This gives Ilvermorny more exclusivity than a school such as Hogwarts with Prides itself on accepting all witches and wizards despite their background, as long as they show that they have magical ability. I would argue though, that the most exclusive school of witchcraft and wizardry remains to be Pigfarts, the Intergalactic School of Martian Witchcraft and Wizardry.
