Thread Topic: iv started a D&D character.

im a dragonborn/elf breed, meaning ill be extra tall. i chose dragonborn to be mized with an elf so i would have the swiftness and great age span of an elf, but the strength and power of a dragonborn. i chose rogue as my class, which the dragonborn traits will help out in seeing as ill now be able to hold my own. my elf traits will allow myself to be nimble as well, so it all works well. my stats are decent, and my hit points are 46. i havent decided on powers and feats yet, and im still choosing weaponry and equipment. so far, i have a rapier (which i may replace with a cutlass or a longsword), a medium suzed dagger, a adventurers kit, and a poisoners kit. i still need to decide armor, and list my powers and feats. my highest stat other than my hit points is my inteligence, which ranks at 15 without modifiers included.my charisma is 9, and i believe everything else is 13.
so, if you have any reccomendations, do tell. .3. thanks. -
That's cool, this is fourth edition right?
Have you set out some goals for your character yet? It helps to have at least one short term goal and one long term goal. You know, what they want right now and what they what in the future. -
yep, 4e.
actually, i havent... hes chaotic neutral, so that means hes free to do whatever he pleases, so i have some freedom when setting up goals... do you have any suggestions? )and by that i mean somthing i could go off of, like a base.) -
Well, I can't really suggest anything without knowing the setting, so you might need to work with your DM to find something that fits in.
Just ask yourself some questions and work from there. What did he do before he became an adventurer? Why did he become an adventurer? Are there any notable characters from his past? What's his retirement plan? He's your character, it's your job to decide what he wants to do with his life.
For me personally, why did he become an adventurer is probably the most important one. -
Hm, thanks. And yeah, I agree, the reason behind his decision to exploring/adventuring is pretty important.

a half dragon half elf seems a little over powered if yoy ask me. Like seriously the weaknesses of the elves are balanced by serious strengths in the intelligence and dexterity and wisdom areas but from what I know, half dragons get hefty bonuses to armor rating and bigger hit point pools and more strenght and claws. In other words their combat bruisers.
I dunno. Just seems like it might unbalance the group to have a master race halfdragon halfelf. Although I guess if you guys are all free to pick and choose maybe everybody elses is coming up with crazy stuff to. Lol like a sentient inevitable. Thatd be dope. -
yeah, we have two fighters, a wizard, a cleric, a ranger, one warrior, one bard i beleive, and my, the rouge.
-
But D&D rocks anyway. f--- over powered now that I think about it xD that character sounds rad.
-
he is. >:3 he shall loot all the things... >w< i love looting.
-
D&D must be better than I thought...
(Never played it.) -
Not really. Once you hit medium to high levels wizards and sorcerers dominate the game. They can pretty much do everything any other class can do better, faster and easier. Not to mention Monks and Bards are useless, and even an idiot can accidentally break the game beyond repair. Add onto this with bloated rules and you really come out with a bad system.
There are a lot of more balanced games out there that I'd recommend moving into more. -
Im gonna disagree with you IHLAOY. On pretty much everything. Theres such a vast amount of content that you can pick and choose from that you only get a bad experience if you really lack creativity.
A friend of mine once ended up playing as a sentient inevitable who had been destroyed then resembled by a wizard.
My lil bros cleric halfing died and came back as a half celestial lion.
Monks can master disiplines that ends up making them immortal and damn near invincible.
All of this stuff is covered somewhere somehow by some rules and stats. Just look for interesting and fun stuff that balances or inproves your game experience. Its aaalll there. And even if its not, DnD is not a hard game to tweak.
Im not saying its the only game that should be played, im just saying that imbalance and redundancy doesn't have to one of its flaws -
I still don't even know what D&D game you're talking about.
-
Meaning which edition? There all pretty similar. Ive played 3.5, 4, 2 and some other spin offs...the best is 3.5 but again, their all similar
-
