I sprained my ankle in basketball and I don't know what to do. I've sprained the other one before, and I wrapped it with pre-wrap and tape during sports, but it didn't work too well. Any ideas? Here is something to keep in mind: I am very athletic and am almost always doing something active. I do year-round sports.

Amputate before the sprain spreads to the rest of your body.

Put some ice cubes, it'll heal

Haha! Lol

Gee thanks. I was hoping for some rel advice. not some freakin junk.
-
Nah! Not me buddy lol

Tell your parents, get it checked out. If you have to take a break from sports for a while then so be it. Your health is more important then sports.

Thanks, Luna Siren, for the helpful advice. I just told my dad and he is oing to buy me an ankle brace. I will go easy at basketball practice tomorrow.

Boyz1016 NewbieMaybe you should ice it every night and put on your brace wheneer you are active. If it continues to hurt, I suggest to take a break form sports. Jow much does it hurt?

Pretty bad. on a scale of 1-10, 1 being hardly at all and 10 being get me to the hospital!!!!!! I would say a 7 or 6.5. It hurts even when I am just sitting, but not too bad. When I am walking it starts to hurt quite a bit. I havent done much running since I sprained it.

Boyz1016 NewbieYikes. If i were you, I would take my advice.
PS You knew what I meant by Jow(How)!Cool! -
I just came back from basketball practice... It was ok. My ankle hurt all day, but it felt a lot better once I put my ankle brace on. It is hurting right now, so let me go put some ice on it.

Boyz1016 NewbieHopefully your ankle heals soon.

Now I just came back from my basketball game. We won 29-17... so far my team is undefeated. My ankle hurt pretty bad during the game... my coach had me stay in for most of the game. I fell down twice, which seemed to aggrivate my ankle even more. My soccer coach was there and he told me to rest my ankle... I'll go easy tomorrow at practice. Any advice other than an ankle brace and ice and rest? (I would really appreciate advice that is actually helpful)
