Maeve noticed her change in demeanor, her own smile faltering. Her mind immediately jumped to the conclusion that Lavender hated her and couldn't wait to stop hanging out with her. She looked down.

Lavender glanced at her after a moment, realizing something was wrong. "Is everything okay?" She asked quietly, letting go of her pinkie. since she worried that was the problem.

Maeve quickly nodded. 'Yep. Everything's great,' she said half heartedly, grabbing her pinkie again.

Lavender didn't believe her because of how un-everything's-great her tone was. She assumed Maeve was only holding her pinkie again because she didn't want to disappoint her, so she pulled her hand away quickly. "What's wrong?"

‘Nothing,’ Maeve said, a little disheartened at Lavender pulling her hand away. ‘You just looked.. sad.’

"Oh." Lavender looked down at Maeve's hand. Was it really that obvious?

‘Are you okay?’

Lavender plastered a fake smile. "Yeah, of course."

Maeve sighed, looking down. ‘whatever you say.’

Lavender paused. "Maeve?" She asked quietly after a moment. She moved her hand closer to her so she could grab her pinkie again if she wanted to.

‘Yeah?’ Maeve said, looking at her.

"I..." Think you're really pretty. Want to kiss you. Don't want to make you uncomfortable. "...I'm sorry for worrying you."

The hope in Maeve’s chest dissipated. ‘Oh. Th-That’s okay.’

(dissipated is such a good word you get 10 points)
Lavender smiled, not realizing that she made it worse in the process. The last thing she wanted to do was make Maeve unhappy. -
(WHY IS THE MEANING SO SUS IN FHE OXFORD DICTIONARY THATS NOT WHAT I MEANT-)
Maeve gave a weak smile back.
