Sebastian walked in, praying he didn't reprogram the machine to destroy whatever was inside of it. They didn't think he did, but he was also too tired to remember properly.
-
Vincent closed it and pushed the button, then waited for something to happen with a big grin. He was almost certain it would work.
-
The gears started turning, and Sebastian braced for impact. It never came. Neither did the small pop. After a few moments, the gears slowed to a stop.
-
Vincent’s face fell. He pushed the button a few times, wanting something to happen, but nothing did. ‘What?!’
-
Sebastian opened his eyes once it stopped again, walking out. "What's happening?" He asked, trying to sound like he didn't know about this beforehand.
-
‘I-It’s not working!’ Vincent exclaimed, stomach twisting. He opened one of the panels, checking to see if the cogs had been messed up, or the wires fried, but it was the same he’d left it. ‘What happened?!’
-
Sebastian frowned. "Maybe it's just a one time fluke or something..." He turned around to find that paperweight they tested it on before, and saw Albert glaring at them.
-
Vincent grabbed his ladder and climbed up to the top panel. ‘Th-This can’t be happening, it was working just fine yesterday..’
-
"What do you want?" Sebastian mouthed before looking away from Albert. "Maybe it's programming got scrambled up, or it lost power.
-
‘No, no, that’s impossible-‘ Vincent said, voice wobbling as he grabbed the USB thing and jumped down, plugging it into his computer.
-
Sebastian shrugged. "It's ok. We've got it to work before, we just need to refigure out how it worked."
-
'No, it's not okay, I can't keep waiting!' Vincent exclaimed, a desperate edge to his voice as he booted up his computer. He looked at the code. 'f---!' he shouted.
-
Sebastian felt awful for being the reason Vincent was so upset. It crashed on it's own. He kept repeating in his head, trying to believe himself.
-
Vincent buried his face in his hands, sitting down in his chair.
-
Sebastian stood next to him, not sure what to do. He sighed. "Well, silver lining is that you'll get this sorted out faster with me around." They offered their hand. "It's my job to help you out, isn't it?"
