Chris pressed a kiss on Mason's head, humming softly as he looked back at the TV.
-
Mason blushed, smiling as he watched the TV.
-
Chris zoned out again as he watched the TV, only coming back to reality when he felt his phone buzz in his pocket. He pulled it out, tensing up when he saw a call coming from his boss. f---. "s---, I gotta take this- be right back," he spoke softly as he let go of Mason, kissing his cheek before standing up and walking into the bathroom.
-
‘Oh, okay,’ Mason said, looking up as Chris walked away. He frowned slightly in worry and curled up on the couch, focusing on the TV.
-
Chris came back out of the bathroom, tucking his phone back into his pocket. "Hey, uhm- I- I think I'm gonna go home, actually," he said quietly, a tired smile on his face. "I'm- I'm really tired from work, and just- don't feel great, so I'm gonna try and- and get some sleep," he mumbled, exhaling shakily as he forced a smile on his face.
-
Mason stood up, frowning. 'What happened? Are you okay?'
-
"I'm fine, yeah- just tired," Chris replied with a tired smile, trying desperately to fight off how defeated he was feeling.
-
Mason walked over, grabbing his hand. 'What happened?'
-
Chris exhaled shakily, tears filling his eyes. "I- I just got fired from my job," he whispered, his smile disappearing as tears rolled down his cheeks.
-
Mason cupped his face, gently wiping away his tears with his thumbs. 'I'm sorry, love. Are you sure you want to go home? We can order whatever you want.'
-
Chris sniffled softly, squeezing his eyes shut. "No, I- I don't- you shouldn't have to buy me anything-" he spoke shakily, a quiet sob escaping his lips. "I don't have a f---ing job- I can't pay my rent, and- and I'm already behind-" He dug his hand into the pocket of his jeans, shakily pulling out the paper he stuffed inside before. "If- If I don't pay m-my landlord, I'm getting kicked out, Mason- I-I don't know what to do," he whispered, tears continuing to roll down his face.
-
Mason took the paper and unfolded it, skimming over it. 'Oh, honey,' he said gently, grabbing his hands. 'Um, how about you stay here for a bit? You can sleep in the guest bedroom until you get back on your feet... I'm sure Olly won't mind, they're at their girlfriend's house most of the time anyway..'
-
"No, I- I couldn't ask that of you," Chris whispered, exhaling shakily as he shook his head.
-
'You're not asking anything of me, I'm suggesting it. I can't not do anything to help,' Mason said quietly.
-
"I-I don't want to- to seem like I'm t-taking advantage of you-" Chris whispered softly, rubbing his teary eyes. "God, I deserve this, honestly," he mumbled, a quiet sob escaping his lips.
