Finn sighed softly, lifting his head. “I- I think-“ He paused, trying to not freak himself out and go into panic mode. “I think I love you-“ He whispered nervously, his hands shaking a little. What if I’m wrong, though- What if I’m just lying to myself- What if I don’t have feelings for people- What if he doesn’t feel the same way- What if I screw everything up-

Arthur grinned a little bit, chuckling quietly. “You don’t remember the two times you said it while we were in the nurses cabin?”

“What?!” Finn exclaimed, his face heating up. “I- I actually said that?” He asked, an embarrassed look on his face. God, he thinks I’m a freak! He thinks I’m a f---ing freak who’s obsessed with him-

“Yeah, it was really cute, honestly,” Arthur said with a giggle. “I don’t- I don’t think I can say it back yet, but… Thank you. For being honest.”

Arthur frowned, pausing for a second before looking down at the ground. “Oh- okay. But- but did you mean it just now? When you said it…?”

“Nope! Just uh, just kidding!” Finn added quickly, stuffing his shaky hands in the pockets of his shorts. “I- I mean I still, like-like you, but- Yeah, I was just- just joking-“ Okay, dial it back and don’t dig yourself into a deeper hole than you already are-

“Oh, okay,” Arthur said, going quiet. in disappointment.

Finn exhaled shakily, staring at the ground as they walked. God, I’m such an idiot, why did I think that I loved him?! Why did I make him think I did?! I’m f---ing everything up…

“Yo, are you two good?” Elliot asked, looking back at the two.

Finn nodded quickly, forcing a small smile onto his face. “Yep, we’re- We’re just fine,” he spoke quietly, crossing his arms over his chest. This is how normal couples are, right? They- They don’t just profess their love for their partners literally right after they get together, right? I’m doing the right thing, right..?

Arthur didn’t respond, zoned out. Elliot glanced at Conor, giving him a confused look. -

Connor glanced over at the two, watching them for a moment. He looked back at Elliot, shrugging. Finn gently pulled away from Aurthur, walking a little furthur ahead of the group as he go lost in thought. Maybe I shouldn’t have said I was joking- But that’s weird if I take it back, right? No one falls in love with someone that fast- But then he’ll think I’m a freak, just like everyone else- He exhaled shakily, tears filling his eyes as he clutched his shirt in his hands. -

Tears formed in Arthur’s eyes as he watched Finn walked away. What- did I do something wrong??
