“And like- you're literally such a nice person to hang out with,” Evan said with a smile. “You’re so funny sometimes, and you’re- like, you always know what to say, y’know?”

Connor blushed a little, chuckling. “I’m glad you think that way- Sometimes I feel like I’m just, super awkward in conversations? Or like, too stiff? I dunno-“

Evan shrugged, humming a little. “Maybe sometimes, but I think you’ve gotten pretty good at it.”

“Pfft- Thanks, babe,” Connor said with a chuckle, resting his hand on Evan’s thigh and rubbing his leg for a moment with his thumb. “You’re really fun to be around too, honestly. Good conversationalist- Is that the word? Is that even a word?? I don’t f---ing know-“

“Yes, it is,” Evan said with a chuckle. “And thank you~ Twelve-year-old me didn’t practice conversations in the mirror for nothing-“

“Pfft- Stop, because that’s so real,” Connor said, laughing. “I did that too, but that was kind of because I was annoyed with myself for being so anxious to talk to people.”

“Ohh, fair,” Evan said with a nod. “My mom thought I was autistic for a while. Turns out it was just because she didn’t socialize me properly!” He said with an awkward chuckle, doing jazz hands as he stopped at an intersection.

Connor chuckled softly, gently patting Evan’s thigh for a moment. “I’ve definitely thought that about myself once or twice- I think I may just have ADHD, though. Never been diagnosed, but I’m pretty sure that’s what it may be-“

“Mm,” Evan hummed, thinking for a moment. “Y’know, I can kind of see that for you? Not completely, but a little bit.”

“If anything, I have more of like, an inattentive version?” Connor said, shrugging a little. “I’ve never really been hyperactive or anything, but that’s not all there is to it, I think.”

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure it’s really complicated,” Evan said with a shrug. “But who cares, really. Does knowing really change anything?”

“Well, I mean, kind of? But yeah, probably not at the same time,” Connor said, shrugging again. “I think it’d be kind of nice to know, at least. Explain some things for me about why I am the way I am.”

“That’s fair,” Evan said with a shrug as he pulled into the camp parking lot. “But- it won’t change the way you are, y’know? It just kinda, slaps a label on you and shrugs.”

“Yeah, I guess that’s true,” Connor said with a soft chuckle, nodding. He hummed softly, rubbing Evan’s leg with his thumb. “I wish I didn’t have to leave,” he said with a sigh, picking up his milkshake and taking another sip.

“I know, me either,” Evan said softly, putting the car in park and placing a hand over Connor’s. “I love working here, but I’m honestly so excited for it to be over with-“
