Briar held Lawrence close for a moment, quickly kissing his cheek before letting go. He grabbed his journal with his notes in it, reading them over again. -

Lawrence smiled, wrapping an arm around his torso. He looked around, feeling nervous for Briar, especially for his father’s reaction. -

Briar smiled and leaned into Lawrence’s side for a moment, watching his cousin walk over. “Briar, hi~” They said with a smile, sitting down on his other side. “Lucinda, hello,” he replied, waving. “I’m glad you got my letter and were able to get here so fast.” “Hey, anything for you, babes- You’re my favorite cousin, and when I heard how much you were struggling with this, I knew I had to come as soon as possible,” they said, a sympathetic sigh escaping their lips. They glanced over, seeing Lawrence at Briar’s side. “Ooh, is this the boyfriend I’ve heard so much about~?” -
Lawrence listened to them talk, blushing lightly. ‘Lawrence Wilson, at your service,’ he said, holding out a hand for Lucinda to shake.

“Pleasure to make your acquaintance, Lawrence~” Lucinda said with a warm smile, shaking Lawrence’s hand. “So, what’s your plan, you’re just telling everyone you’re resigning and handing the throne over to me?” They asked, looking back at Briar, who nodded.

Lawrence gave a small smile back and returned his hand to Lawrence’s side.

“I just hope Father doesn’t go ballistic,” Briar said, sighing as he leaned into Lawrence’s side. “I feel that- When he gets mad, he can get quite dangerous,” Lucinda spoke in a low voice, shaking their head.

‘You’ll be fine. He technically can’t do anything, since you’ve chosen who’s second in line,’ Lawrence said, pecking Briar’s cheek to try and relax him.

“True- Plus, you’ve got us and the entire royal guard to protect you,” Lucinda said, smiling. “But what about after? When I step down? What if my father tries to hurt me?” Briar spoke, his voice shaking a little.

‘He won’t even be able to come near you. Because we’re going to look for cottages in the woods,’ Lawrence said softly. He pulled Briar close and cradled him in his arms. ‘Nothing bad will happen, I promise.’

Briar nodded, curling up in Lawrence’s arms. “And I’ll see to it personally that he’s executed if I find out he messes with either one of you,” Lucinda said with a chuckle, rubbing Briar’s back. The ravenette giggled softly, nodding again.

Lawrence smiled, kissing the top of Briar’s head. ‘Completely off topic, but oh my god you’re adorable,’ he murmured, holding Briar tightly.
