“I’ve been good~” Karl said with a nervous smile, running a hand through his hair. “How- How’ve you been?”

“Uh, I’ve been okay, I guess,” Nick said with a shrug. “Uh, do you wanna head to my room?”

“Sure, yeah,” Karl said with a small smile, nodding as he slid his shoes off.

“Oh, you can keep your shoes on, it’s okay,” Nick said with a shrug, heading towards the stairs.

“Oh, okay-“ Karl spoke, stopping as he was in the middle of taking off his shoes. He followed after Nick, heading upstairs with him.

“So, uh, are you still in school?” Nick asked as they walked into his room.

“Yeah- I’m in like, a homeschool program,” Karl replied, walking into Nick’s room. “You?”

“Oh, I go to the public school,” Nick said, furrowing his brows. “But no s---- homeschooling is still a thing? How does it work?”

“I do most of my work online, then go to classes like, once or twice a week,” Karl replied, giggling softly. “It’s really a lot better for me work-wise, since I can kinda make my own deadlines and stuff. A lot less stressful for me~”

“Damn, that actually sounds fire,” Nick said with a chuckle, sitting down on his bed. “Uh, you can sit wherever- I have a really comfy desk chair-“

Karl nodded and walked over, sitting down on the desk chair. “Where do you go to school at, if you don’t mind me asking?”

“Uh, just the public school, a few blocks away from here,” Nick said, shrugging.

“Cool, cool,” Karl said, smiling a little. He rested his hands in his lap, pursing his lips awkwardly. s---, what do I say now??

“Is there a really big homeschool community?” Nick asked, cracking his knuckles.

“Surprisingly, yeah, actually- There’s a good few different co-ops around the area,” Karl replied, nodding.
