Nick hummed, following Clay downstairs and into the kitchen. “I seriously don’t know how you don’t hear George snoring.”
-
“I’m a heavy sleeper, I literally don’t hear it,” Clay said, chuckling softly. “Although I don’t think it’d really bother me, either way-“ He opened the fridge, humming softly. “Uh, we got stuff for eggs and bacon- Ooh, I wonder if we have stuff for waffles~” He moved over, searching through the cabinets.
-
“How could it not bother you?” Nick said with a chuckle, following Clay around. “Oo, waffles sound great. Also- does George usually not eat breakfast?”
-
Clay shrugged, chuckling softly. “I’m not sure- I guess sometimes he doesn’t? Sometimes he doesn’t eat meals, but I don’t know if it’s like, he’s just not hungry or doesn’t feel well or something else-“
-
Nick hummed half in understanding and half in confusion. “George confuses the f--- outta me, man-“
-
Clay laughed softly, glancing over at Nick. “What do you mean by that?” He asked, grabbing some stuff from the cabinet. “Ooh, yeah, we’ve got everything we need-“
-
“I mean- I dunno, this kid drinks all the time, he vapes, smokes, skips school five times a week, and skips meals?” Nick said, leaning against the counter. “But he’s still popular, funny, looks great, acts fine, and has decent grades.”
-
“I mean, that’s how I used to be-“ Clay said, shrugging softly. “He might just be like, dealing with some s--- he’d rather not talk about with me yet- I wouldn’t be too surprised, honestly.” He moved over to another cabinet, pulling out a pan.
-
“Mm, fair,” Nick said with a nod, humming quietly. “He hides it, like… surprisingly well.”
-
Clay nodded, glancing over at the stairs. “What if he is hiding something from me-“ He spoke softly, watching the stairs for a moment before looking away.
-
Nick shrugged a little. “I dunno. He might be. Maybe you shoukd ask.”
-
“But what if he just like, gets upset or defensive if I try and bring it up?” Clay asked nervously, setting the pan on the stovetop and turning on one of the burners.
-
“Then drop it,” Nick shrugged. “He’s probably not hiding it from you because of like, a grudge or something .”
-
Clay nodded after a moment of thinking, exhaling softly. “Right, yeah,” he spoke softly, grabbing a bowl, a few utensils and the pancake mix.
-
“Yeah, you’ll be fine,” Nick said with a soft chuckle.
