“Oh, uh,” Nick paused, glancing away. “Lucy ordered for me on our first date and when she was in the bathroom the waiter said she probably was controlling and stuff. I ignored him.”

“Damn- You were definitely blind to the red flags,” Clay said, glancing over at Nick. “She won’t mess with you anymore, though, okay? If she ever tries to give you s--- at school or something, come get me or George, alright?”

“Yeah, I will,” Mick said softly, getting lost in his thoughts.

Clay watched Nick for a moment before looking back at the bowl, continuing to stir. “Could you plug in the waffle maker?” He asked, setting the bowl down and going to grab cooking spray.

“Yeah, yeah-“ Nick said, grabbing the end of the plug and plugging it in.

“Thanks,” Clay said, humming softly as he moved the bowl over to the waffle maker. He turned up the heat on it and sprayed it with come of the cooking spray, working on making the waffles.

Nick leaned against the counter, watching Clay. “Man, I love waffles-“

“Real. They’re so much better than pancakes,” Clay said, chuckling softly as he watched the waffle cook and made sure it wouldn’t burn.

Nick giggled, nodding a little.

Clay hummed as the waffle soon finished cooking, opening the waffle maker up. “f---, that smells good~” He said, smiling as he grabbed a plate and quickly put the waffle on it.

“Hell yeah,” Nick paused, Lucy’s words ringing in the back of his mind.

Clay glanced over, watching Nick for a moment. “You uh, wanna try making one?” He offered, gesturing to the bowl.

Nick paused, glancing at the bowl before forcing himself to nod. “Yeah! Yeah, why not-“

“You okay?” Clay asked softly, grabbing the cooking spray and putting more on the waffle maker.

“Uh, kinda,” Nick said quietly, glancing up at Clay.
