“I’ll be right back, baby, just gonna use the restroom~” Lucy said with a smile as she set her fork down, standing from her seat and walking off. Karl walked over to the table, holding a small pitcher of sprite. “Care for a refill?” He asked with a small smile, gesturing to his mostly empty cup. -

“Uh- nah, I’m good, thanks though,” Nick said with a small smile, waving him off dismissively. He was scared that if he did get a re-fill Lucy would get upset with him. -
Karl nodded, watching Nick for a moment. “Is the girl you came with your girlfriend?” He asked, not intending on probing him but wanting to ask about the blonde’s attitude.

“Uh-“ Nick paused, thinking for a moment. “Yeah- yeah, she is.”

Karl nodded, a small smile on his face. “Does she uhm, do that often? Like, order for you and- and say stuff like that?” He asked, setting the pitcher on a nearby empty table for a moment. “I- I apologize if I’m intruding, I was just wondering-“

“Uh, kinda? We only started dating a little while ago, but-“ Nick paused, shrugging. “She’s just trying to look out for me-“

“It- It doesn’t really seem like it? I mean, I know I don’t know either of you, but it- she kind of seems controlling-“ Karl spoke hesitantly, folding his hands in front of him.

Nick frowned a bit, shaking his head. “Yeah- uh, she’s not- she just gets- uh, kinda like, nervous out in public, y’know?” He said nervously, not knowing what to say.

“She didn’t seem very nervous to me,” Karl stated, furrowing his brows ever so slightly.

“She’s- she’s good at hiding it, okay?” Nick said weakly, rubbing his face with his hands.

Karl nodded, exhaling softly. “Well- Let me know if you need anything, okay?” He said before turning, picking up the pitcher from the empty table.

“Okay, thank you,” Nick said, exhaling quietly.

Karl watched Nick for a moment with a worried look before walking off, sighing. “You get yourself a man, yet~?” His friend Alex teased as he walked back into the kitchen, nudging his side. “No- He’s here with his girlfriend,” Karl said, sighing. “God, she’s like- such a controlling person, though-“ “Oof- I mean, not much you can do, right?” Alex said, shrugging. “Yeah, I guess so. I just feel kinda bad…” Lucy soon came back out of the bathroom, walking over to the table and sitting back down. “You miss me~?”

Nick forced a smile, nodding and sitting up a little. “Yeah~ uh, you wanna try and get out of here?”

“And take you up on your earlier offer? Definitely~” Lucy said with a smirk, rubbing Nick’s ankle with the toe of her shoe for a moment.
