“No- I was never able to, even if my mom talked to my teachers about it,” Clay said, sighing. “She’d usually get something about how “it’d be unfair to the other students” if I got any sort of extra help.”
-
“Huh,” George said, thinking for a moment. “That’s kinda weird. Don't schools here give out all sorts of help?”
-
“They should, but like I’ve said, our school is s---,” Clay replied, rolling his eyes.
-
“Okay, gotcha,” George said, chuckling quietly. After a few beats of silence, he glanced over to Clay. “Does your Mom mind that we’re skipping? She’ll find out, won’t she?”
-
“I mean, she’ll be annoyed, but she won’t mind too much,” Clay answered, chuckling softly. “I do this sometimes, whenever I get too overwhelmed. Once I literally just, walked out in the middle of class and came home. It was so funny, seeing my teacher’s face~”
-
George chuckled quietly, curling one leg into his chest. “That’s so nice. My mum would’ve killed me.”
-
Clay chuckled, glancing over at George. “Damn, just for skipping? I mean, I guess I get it, but like- It’s not like you’ve committed a crime or something-“
-
“Yeah, but I…” George paused, grinning a little. “I skip a lot. I had over like, 200 tardiness sophomore year and over 100 absences.”
-
“Damn, George, get it~” Clay teased, laughing softly. “Honestly, that’s about what middle school was like for me. I literally lived like, within walking distance of my old school, so I’d just leave and go home, play video games and stuff.”
-
George laughed a little. “That’s hilarious. Kinda lucky, too. What kind of video games do you play?”
-
“I play a lot of Minecraft and indie games,” Clay replied, soon turning into his neighborhood. “Minecraft’s a big one for me, definitely a comfort game for me~”
-
“Ah, gotcha, gotcha,” George said, nodding in understanding and looking in front of him. “Do you just not like, like, shooter games, or?”
-
“Eh, they’re fine, I just don’t play them super often,” Clay replied, shrugging. “I do like Valo, it’s pretty chill. I also like RPGs, those are fun.”
-
“Huh, gotcha,” George said with a yawn. “God, you should be glad I didn’t wear comfy clothes because I’d be dead asleep right now.”
-
“If I weren’t driving right now, I’d be out like a light, honestly,” Clay said with a chuckle, running a hand through his hair. He yawned softly, humming as he turned and pulled into the driveway of his house. “Welp, home sweet home- Or, I guess in your case, temporary home sweet home,” he said, turning off the car and glancing at George. “How long are you staying here, again?”
