“Oh, gotcha,” George nodded. “So you have your full liscence?”

“Yeah, I got it right before my 16th birthday,” Clay replied with a nod, pulling out of the parking lot and leaving the school.

“Ah, cool,” George nodded, looking back at his phone and texting someone back before looking up again.

Clay hummed as he turned on the radio, heading towards the closest McDonalds. “How were your classes today?”

George shrugged. “Same as yesterday. Not that hard, I guess.”

“That’s good to hear,” Clay replied with a smile, nodding. He snuck a glance at George, watching him for a moment before looking back at the road.

“How were yours?” George said, looking back up from his phone over to Clay.

“Fine. A bit stressful, but fine,” Clay said, shrugging. “School’s definitely gotten overwhelming, since it’s junior year and all. SATs and ACTs, all that jazz.”

“Oh, gotcha,” George nodded, leaning his head back. “Sometimes you just gotta like- let loose, y’know? No ones gonna give a s--- about your grade in forty years.”

“I guess you’re right about that,” Clay said with a chuckle, running a hand through his hair. “It’s definitely a bit hard when it’s all you think about. Getting good grades, being great at your sport, being- Well, being perfect.”

George hummed quietly. “That’s fair. But like, also impossible, so.”

“Yeah, I- I know,” Clay said with a sigh, tapping the steering wheel with his thumb. He rested his arm on the center console, zoning out for a moment as he drove.

George glanced over to him, going silent for a moment. “Do you have like- ADD, or somthing? You space out a bunch.”

“ADHD, yeah,” Clay replied as he shook himself from his thoughts, nodding. “Surprised you didn’t catch on sooner,” he said with an awkward chuckle, rubbing the back of his neck. “It’s probably why I struggle with school so much, to be honest.”

“Yeah, probably,” George said. “Do you get like, acceptions, or is that why school is so hard?”
