"fair. Brain breaks are critical for work." Octavia said. She drew an eye on her paper. A popular artistic past time.
-
Adrienne sighed and rested their head on the table, yawning softly.
-
Octavia doodled on her paper occasionally glancing over to Adrienne. She didn't know what to think of them. They skipped classes, they smoked, they didn't sleep at night, but they were also the coolest person that talked to Octavia.
-
Adrienne turned their head towards Octavia, watching her quietly. “Do you tutor other kids?” They asked curiously, tapping their thumb against their arm, “or am I an exception~?”
-
"it's just you. I don't give up a lot of my free time in libraries when I'm not reading or looking at the Internet. I mean, I used to do other kids homework at the library for 5 dollars an assignment but I would not call that tutoring." Octavia said, looking over to Adrienne.
-
“I’d call that a steady business, honestly,” Adrienne said, chuckling softly. “If I were smarter, I would so do that, honestly.”
-
"it's a pain. Imagine doing your own homework then turning around and doing the same assignment like ten times. It's very tedious, plus if I got a question wrong everyone would berate me for work they didn't do." Octavia said
-
“Damn, seriously?” Adrienne asked, furrowing their brows. “Well, if you ever decide to go back into business and anyone tries to get mad at you for f---ing up one lousy question, let me know and I’ll set them straight,” they added, lifting their head with a chuckle.
-
"I actually stopped the business because of one rough customer. He was a sixth grader and I didn't understand algebra yet, I was only in third grade. He paid me ten dollars instead of my usual five but I got ten questions wrong. Apparently if he got a ninety it would've been extra credit enough to pass pre algebra. Anyways he beat me up and stole thirty dollars from me." Octavia said
-
“Holy s---, he-“ Adrienne sat up, furrowing their brows. “That’s not f---ing okay, he- he beat you up??”
-
"yeah, that jerk beat up a third grader for not knowing sixth grade math." Octavia said. It was not a particularly stellar moment in her life.
-
“What a f---ing a--hole- If I were there, I woulda beat the s--- out of him for hurting you,” Adrienne said, clenching their hands into fists.
-
"then he'd be fighting two third graders. Also a seventh grader who was not happy about the bullying." Octavia said
-
“Whatever, I’d still beat the s--- outta him if he were to hurt you again-“
-
"um, th-thats really nice of you." Octavia said. She looked back down to her spiral notebook and started doodling little math questions. "he's working at a gas station now anyways. According to someone I know he dropped out of highschool."
