Sapnap furrowed his brows, studying Karl in confusion for a moment before responding. “I mean, I think so? Yeah, I have. Some point.”

"Are- are you in love with someone, now?" Karl asked, looking Nick in the eye.

“Um,” Sapnap paused, reaching up to adjust the brim of his hat again. “No..? Unless you know something I don’t,” He said with a nervous chuckle, trying to relieve the awkward tension in the air.

(also, what if in a long while, karl finally gives up on finding a sapnap that is in love with him and he comes back for his original one, and sapnaps realized he is actually in love with him? but he needs to try and win karl over again?)

"Well, uhm, I uh," Karl started nervously, rubbing his arms. "I have a uh, a friend! Yeah, a good friend of mine who's uhm, who's in love with his best friend, but uhm, he doesn't know how to- to tell him!" He added after a short moment. Maybe if I play it off as if it's not me who's in love, maybe I won't have to worry about embarrassing myself just yet. -
(also, i wanted to ask, how should we go abt the whole, time travel/alternate world hopping thing??)

Sapnap wasn’t that stupid. He had a small, itching feeling he knew who it was, but he was going to play dumb. “Dude, I know all your friends. Who is it?”

"Uh- Well, it's uhm-" Karl started, turning red. "Well, I uh, I was told not to say specifically who-"

“Okay..” Sapnap paused pretending to rack his brain. “Do they want like… advice? I don’t know if I’d be the best guy to go to.”

"Yeah, k-kind of," Karl said, nodding quickly. He crossed his arms over his chest, leaning back in the seat. "Just like, uh, what- what you would do in this situation, if- if you don't know if the person you love is also in love with you-" he paused, looking away for a moment. "Or something like that."

“I don’t know,” Sapnap paused. “I probably would be too big of a p---- to ask them out.” He fidgeted with his hat again. “I’d probably go to their other friends and ask their opinions? I’d find out for sure before doing anything.”

"Yeah, that's uh, that's probably what I'd do," Karl replied with a quiet chuckle, glancing back at Nick. Do it, Karl. He's sitting right there, do it. DO IT! He squeezed his eyes shut for a moment, exhaling. "Nick, I- I like you."

Sapnaps face dropped, pressing his lips into a thin line. He looked out the window for a moment before looking back to Karl. “I don’t know.. Karl I don’t know if I can reciprocate those feelings. I’m sorry.”

Karl froze, his heart racing. He slumped back in his seat, grabbing his soda and taking a sip. "Don't- don't feel bad, it's not your fault," he murmured, setting it back down on the table. "Can we- can we just go home? I'm not hungry anymore..."

Sapnaps heart started to race and he frowned deeper, his right leg bouncing anxiously. He hated seeing Karl upset, but he knew there wasn’t much at this moment he could do to help him. “Yeah, we can.” He stood up quickly, grabbing whatever was left of his food and putting it back in the bag.
