Ernie ran over to the witch hunters. They hadn't burned the girl yet, thank god. "Oi!" He yelled as loud as he could so the group of them turned around to face him. He did something stupid- more stupid than normal at least- and punched one of them in the face. He wouldn't recommend it- his hand hurt like hell after. "How about you let her go?"

Mahina watched him as she crept towards the girl. She smiled. She put an invisible hand over the girl’s mouth. The girl tried to cry out. ‘Shush,’ Mahina whispered. ‘Hold still and keep quiet.’

The witch hunter he punched in the face tried to grab him, but he dodged. The others either watched in confusion or tried to help the witch hunter. Ernest just gave a defiant smile and kicked a couple of them in the shins.

Mahina stared at Ernest. She hadn’t been expecting him to try and beat them up. She smiled before turning her attention to the witch, trying to burn the ropes.

Now pretty much all of the witch hunters were trying to stop Ernie. He just dodged them- or at least as much as he could. He might've gotten a little beat up after the whole ordeal.

The girl didn’t flail or cry out. She seemed quite bewildered. Soon, her bonds came undone and she stumbled forward.

Ernest noticed and smiled before shoving one of the witch hunters into a couple others. "Bet you losers can't catch me!" He said, kicking one of them before running off, hoping they'd all follow and let Mahina escape with the girl.

Mahina turned visible once Ernest started running. ‘Come on,’ she told the girl, grabbing her wrist.

Ernie sprinted away from them, going into random alleys every so often, trying to make sure he led them far away from where Mahina was going. Thankfully the streetways hadn't changed much since he left. Eventually he got to the forest, and he tried to lose them all there.

The girl stared at her. ‘You’re-‘
‘Yeah, a witch.’
‘B-But-‘
‘We need to go!’
The two started running. Mahina didn’t know the way into the forest as well as Ernest did, but after a few twists and turns and a bit of backtracking they got out. -
Ernie eventually started getting tired, and he looked behind him to see if anyone was still chasing him. It didn't look like it. He slowed down.

Mahina and the girl burst into the forest next to Ernest. Mahina leaned against her boyfriend, trying to catch her breath.

Ernest jumped when they showed up next to him before relaxing. He wrapped an arm around Mahina. "You two alright?"

‘I think so,’ Mahina said, between breaths. She looked at the girl. ‘You good?’

The girl looked a little traumatized, but nodded. "W-who are you guys?" She stammered.
