Jayden gave a small chuckle. "I'm sure. Don't worry about it."
-
Chester kissed his nose. ‘Okay.’ Their food arrived.
-
Jayden leaned into him. He took the plates, handing one to Chester. The chef had a third plate for Maeve, so he must've noticed her show up a while ago.
-
Chester thanked the chef. He kissed Jayden’s cheek before beginning to eat.
-
Jayden snuggled into him more, taking a bite of his food.
-
Chester smiled, and for a moment his gaze turned to Astrid, sitting a few tables behind them. Astrid noticed him looking and glared, but Chester could see a hint of fear in his eyes. He sighed and looked back at his food.
-
Jayden noticed his attention shift for a moment. "You ok?"
-
Chester nodded. ‘Of course,’ he said, taking a bite from his food. ‘I think you’re older brother is scared of me, though.’
-
Jayden shrugged. "Better than him picking fights with you though, right?"
-
Chester nodded. ‘Fair enough,’ he said quietly. ‘Do you think he’s told your parents?’
-
Jayden thought about that, glancing at his parents. "I.... I don't know." He admit. His dad's expressions were typically harder to read than most, but he couldn't tell with his mom either, which was unusual. He realized he was staring around the same time his mom did.
-
Chester followed his gaze, fiddling with his fork. At that moment, an elderly couple burst into the dining room, a man and a woman, quickly followed by a guard. ‘Stop right there!’
The man bonked the guard with his cane. The women looked around the dining room, her beady eyes scanning each person. ‘Chester!’ she shouted. Chester’s face paled and he sunk into his chair. ‘Oh god.’ -
Jayden grabbed Chester's hand, turning to look at the couple and the guard. "What in the world is going on?" He asked sternly.
-
Chester buried his face in his shoulder.
The guard looked at Jayden apologetically. ‘They just barged past me as I was finishing my shift. I tried to stop them, your majesties.’
The woman whacked the guard with her handbag. ‘Chester Arthur is my grandson, I will see him when I want! My god, Chester, you’ve shrunk!’
Chester refused to look at her. ‘It’s Jackson, not Arthur.’ -
Jayden sighed. "It's fine, Hollis. You can go." He glared at the grandparents before whispering to Chester, "Do you want to handle this, or do you want me to kick them out?"
