“Give you time to come up with a plan.” Astrid said like it was the most obvious thing in the world. “Don’t tell me you failed basic English!”
Jayd looked up at Chester, wanting him to drop it. -
Chester rolled his eyes. ‘Fine.’

Astrid seemed satisfied and left.

‘Do you know what I’m supposed to be planning for?’ Chester asked, looking at Jayden.

Jayd shook his head. “No idea.”

Chester sighed. ‘Great,’ he mumbled, holding him close. ‘How long till lunch?’

Jayden checked. “About an hour.”

Chester stood up. ‘Which way’s the weapon room?’

Jayd’s eyes widened. “Don’t hurt him badly.” He said before standing up.

Chester nodded. ‘I would never. I just… need to be prepared.’

“Isn’t that why you have your knife?”

‘A knife is no good in a sword fight if you’re not skilled enough,’ Chester said, taking off Jayden’s sweater. ‘I’m better with a sword.’

“Ok.” Jayden nodded. “Follow me.”

Chester smiled weakly and nodded.

Jayd walked out of the room, holding the door open for his boyfriend.
