Chester looked down. 'F-Fine.'

Astrid smirked. He pulled out the pocket watch, tossing it to Chester in a way that looked lazy, but he made sure Chester could catch it since otherwise, he knew the deal was off. “There you go, cottontail.”

Chester caught it carefully. He took a deep breath and held it close to his chest. 'So, what? I just do whatever you say now?'

“Yup. Now, shoo.” Astrid walked off to his table.

Chester walked away, out of the dining room. He looked around for Jayden.

Jayd noticed he was looking for him and stood up. “Hey.” His voice was shaky.

Chester grabbed his hand, holding his pocket watch to his chest with the other. 'Are you ok?'

“Yeah.” Jayd nodded slowly. “What did Astrid say?”

Chester sighed and shook his head. 'Doesn't matter.'

Jayden frowned. “Chester? It kinda does…”

Chester whimpered. 'H-He made me not tell you.'

Jayd’s eyes widened. “We said not to keep secrets from each other…” He chided. He was such a hypocrite. Such a stupid little hypocrite.

'I know, I know,' Chester murmured. 'But you won't tell me what Caden keeps bugging you about, either. We're kind of even.'

Jayden winced. They weren’t even, he knew that. he was so much worse than Chester.

Chester pulled him close. 'Come on.'
