"Come on, that was entertaining enough!"

'I said I might consider it.'

Jayd groaned. "I was vulnerable and you just gave yourself a way out?"

Chester raised his eyebrows. 'I guess?'

"I should have made you swear on gardening." Jayden muttered.

Chester chuckled.

Jayden stood up and grabbed another journal. "Is this one good for me to read?"

Chester looked at the journal. 'I'm... Not sure.'

"I'll take that as a yes." Jayden flipped the book open to a random page and skimmed through the page.

Chester clenched his jaw, hoping nothing in the book was too embarrassing.
The book was a diary, and Jayden had opened to an entry written a year ago.
"I think I managed to catch her eye today. It was a ball late at night. I danced with her and we talked, I think I may have a chance, diary." was the first few sentences. -
Jayd's eyes widened slightly, but he didn't say anything as he read more about Chester writing about how hard he tried to get her attention that dance. And it was at a ball too- so why was Chester so anti balls and parties now?

Chester watched Jayden's reaction closely. 'What is it?'
"Each conversation lasted about two minutes, as we were constantly interrupted, but I think she's growing at least a little fond of me - at least I hope - as I have of her." -
"Nothing. Just more stuff to add to the space in my brain dedicated to stuff about you." Jayd said absentmindedly as he read. It was so cheesy the way Chester obsessed with this mystery girl so much. Cheesy and kind of sad to read.

'Why? What's in there?' Chester asked standing up.
"She seems very interested in politics, which I like about her. It's refreshing to talk about topics like that with her. She's a Duchess, however I'm worried she may be trying to catch my eye because being with me elevates her status. I'm sure that wouldn't be the case."
