Jayden looked at Chester. "You think they'd listen if we asked them all to go one at a time?" He joked, knowing there were far too many of them for that to be possible.
-
Chester chuckled. 'I doubt it.'
-
Jayd sighed, chuckling. "Figures." He pointed at one of the reporters, a man wearing a blue suit. "You there, what'd you ask?"
-
The rest of the journalists fell silent.
The man shouted over mumbles to be heard. 'King Jayden, what do you have to say about the paper published by The Northern Times this morning?' -
"The one about Chester and Beatrice?" Jayden confirmed. The reporter nodded. "Well, I trust my boyfriend and what he told me about it, which is that Beatrice kissed him, not the other way around." He looked at Chester. "Do you want to tell them anything?" He whispered.
-
Chester shook his head. 'You can tell him what you want,' he whispered back.
-
"Ok." Jayden started talking to the reporter again. "I believe him, and I trust him. Any more questions about it?"
-
The journalists erupted into noise, shouting over one another.
-
"Oh god." Jayd mumbled before pointing to another reporter. "Go ahead."
-
'What actually happened that afternoon?'
-
"Great question, ma'am." Jayd looked at Chester. "It's not my place to tell them what happened, and you definitely know more than I do." He whispered.
-
Chester sighed and nodded. 'Beatrice's power, miss, is taking away a being's ability. She can temporarily take your knowledge, your ability to walk... She took my ability to move while she kissed me. To try and worsen my reputation, I presume.'
-
There were some gasps and mutters in the crowd. Jayd squeezed Chester's hand slightly. "Any other questions?" He asked, already knowing the wave of questions would come after that sentence.
-
The journalists started shouting over each other. Chester pointed at a man at the front. 'You. Go.'
'Doesn't that make the duchess an outlaw?' he asked. 'That kind of magic is forbidden from being used when not in self-defence.' -
Jayden's eyebrows raised. He tried to stop from smiling, figuring that'd be incredibly rude. "I suppose it does then. Right?" He looked at Chester.
