Jayd didn’t answer, staring at the floor. He hated admitting it, but he really, really didn’t want to lose Chester, even if he did do something so horrible. “You said it yourself. She controlled you. Right?” He mumbled.

'I... A little, but..'

Jayden’s eyes widened. “But what?” He asked, looking up at Chester.

Chester's eyes welled with tears. 'She can control one part of your body at a time... my feet, in the moment, but...' He shuffled nervously. 'I... Not my hands... or my wings... or my head, for that matter.'

Jayd was silent for a minute, staring at the floor again.

Chester reached out and tried to grab his hand again. 'J-Jayden?'

Jayden pulled his hand back slightly. “So you still could’ve pulled away?” He said, sounding like he was on the verge of tears, which he was. “And you didn’t?”

Chester clenched his jaw, feeling his own hand shaking. He dropped Jayden's hand as he nodded.

Jayd pulled his hand all the way back. “W-why? Why would you do that?” He whispered.

Chester watched him move away and sighed. 'I.. I don't know.' He wiped his eyes. 'I'm so sorry, Jayden.'

Jayden sighed, not looking Chester in the eye.

Chester looked up at him. If he wasn't going to leave him before, he definitely was now. 'Jayden?'

Jayd stood up. “I’m going to breakfast.” He said quietly.

Chester looked away. 'Jayden.'

“What?” Jayden asked, frowning.
