'Second floor, next to the servant's quarters, your majesty.'

"Thank you!" Jayden said with a smile before leaving.

The maid nodded with a polite smile before walking through a wall.

Jayd walked up the winding stairs once he found them, going to the second floor.

Chester rested his head in his hand.

Jayden found the office after a bit, knocking gently. "It's me."

Chester glanced at the door, recognising Jayden's voice. 'Come in.'

Jayden walked in. "Are you alright?"

'Of course,' Chester said. The office was small and dimly lit. There was a lit candle on Chester's desk, which faced the small window. The curtains were drawn.

Jayd looked skeptical at that. He thought Chester had acted kind of off since they talked about hosting a party, but didn't mention it. "It's so dark in here."

'Is it? I hadn't noticed,' Chester said, not sarcastically.

"It is." Jayden opened the curtains a bit. "There, that's better."

Chester chuckled. He scribbled his signature on another piece of paper.

"What are those for?" Jayd asked, pointing at the papers.

'Kingdom stuff,' Chester responded. 'Imports, exports, income and outcome, stuff like that.' He gestured to a piece of paper. 'That one is a complaint about wolfsbane prices.'
