‘I already have what I want, love. Promise,’ Chester said with a small smile.

Jayden sighed. "Ok." He mumbled into Chester's shirt.

Chester gave a smile for him. He rested his chin on top of Jayden’s head, sighing softly. I have what I want. I don’t need anything else.

Jayd looked up at him, noticing him sighing. "Are you happy?" He asked quietly.

Chester quickly gave a smile. ‘Of course.’

Jayden gave a weak smile back. "Ok."

Chester rested his head on top of Jayden’s, the smile wiping off his face.

Jayd looked up at him enough to see he wasn't smiling anymore. He frowned slightly.

Chester raked his fingers through Jayden’s hair absentmindedly.

Jayden didn't want to ask Chester if he was happy again since he already did, but he also wasn't sure he fully believed Chester.

Chester sighed softly. ‘You remember that painting I took you to see, on our second date? The one with King Lawrence the Third and Prince Neil the second?’

Jayd nodded. "Yeah, of course."

‘And that, on our third, Prince Neil died in battle when he was 30? And King Lawrence was never able to love again?’

Jayden nodded again. "Yeah."

‘Well, one of the reasons for that is because he got murdered 2 years later,’ Chester said quietly, refusing to look him in the eye. ‘By a protester who wanted that same painting to be taken down from the kingdom museum. He didn’t live to start a family because of who he loved.’
