Jayden listened intently, grip tightening even further. He didn't say anything, not wanting to make Chester more upset by saying something out of line or just saying something dumb.

Chester gently played with the ends of Jayden’s hair, swallowing. ‘He died because he had a husband. Because his people couldn’t wrap their heads around two men being in love.’

Jayden looked up at Chester. "That's not going to happen to us, love." He murmured softly, knowing he had no way of proving that. -
(Omg nooo I’m so sorry)
Chester looked down at him, holding onto him tightly. ‘You don’t know that,’ he said in a voice barely above a whisper. ‘One of us could die tomorrow because of some out of line citizen. Someone could break into the castle with a gun and we might not survive,’ he said, voice breaking. -
(STOP IM LITERALLY LISTENING TO HOME OF THE TERRIFIED I CANT WITH YOU)
Jayd wrapped his arms around Chester. "Chester. I'm not dying anytime soon and neither are you." He said in a firm voice. "Nobody is breaking in and killing us, I promise." -
(MWAHAHA THATS LIKE THE WORST SONG TO LISTEN TO AT THIS TIME THO HOW R U NOT CRYING)
Chester buried his face in Jayden’s shirt, eyes welling with tears. ‘You don’t know that,’ he repeated, voice shaking. ‘You don’t know that.’ -
(BOLD OF YOU TO ASSUME IM NOT-)
Jayden held him tight. "I don't." He murmured. "But I'll do everything in my power to make sure it doesn't happen, Chester Jackson." -
(BESTIE ARE YOU OKAY-)
‘You can’t overpower a bullet,’ Chester whimpered, holding Jayden tightly. ‘I’m so f---ing scared, Jayden.’ -
(N O IM NOT IM LOSING MY s--- OVER HERE)
Jayd sighed. "I-I know you are." He mumbled. "I am too." He admit quietly, hugging him tighter. -
(OH UM SORRY ABOUT THAT-)
Chester sniffed, arms tightening around him. ‘You can’t die,’ he said in a choked voice, wiping his eyes furiously. ‘Y-You can’t.’ -
(ITS FINE IM FINE EVERYTHINGS FINE)
"Hey, I'm not dying anytime soon." Jayden murmured, kissing the top of his head. "I've got too much to do in my life to die so soon." -
(OK OK IF YOURE SURE-)
Chester whimpered, shutting his eyes tight. ‘I-I know,’ he whispered, burying his face into Jayden’s shirt. -
(I AMMMM)
Jayden held him tightly. "You're not dying either." He mumbled, finger on Chester's chin so he could look him in the eyes. "Deal?" -
Chester leaned into his touch and nodded. ‘Deal,’ he said softly, opening his eyes. ‘But what if something happens?’

"Nope." Jayd said firmly. "Nothing is going to happen. Absolutely nothing. I won't allow it."
(Aaand Ima crash and go to bed because I'm too tired for this emotional rollercoaster rn BYE)
