Theo stood up, putting his notebook and pencils away.

Hazel set her tablet down on her bed and stood, heading towards the door.

Theo followed her.

Hazel walked down the hall, in the opposite direction to the kitchen. She opened the door to her younger brother's room, the eldest next to her. 'Jacky, dinnertime,' she said. Jacky nodded and hurried out the room to get the youngest of them all, Alyssa, or Ally for short.

Theo smiled as he saw all the kids get each other, waiting for Hazel.

Jacky was holding the baby, then passed her to Hazel. Being a 10-year-old, he wasn't fond of infants.
'C'mon,' Hazel said to Theo, walking down the hall. -
"Aww, you didn't tell me you had a baby sister!" Theo said, grinning. He loved babies.

'You'll be lucky if you get sleep,' Hazel muttered.

"I don't care, she's adorable!" Theo countered. "I'd gladly trade my sleep for an angel like her."

'You should see her at 1am,' she said as they descended the stairs.

"I'll make sure you're awake when I do." Theo joked, walking down the stairs behind her.

'No!' she exclaimed with a small laugh. In the dining there was a large table with 4 chairs set up on the long sides and 1 at each head of the table. Hazel set Ally in the baby chair and sat down on the opposite side where there were two chairs left over, as it wasn't her turn to feet the little baby.

Theo sat down next to Hazel and Jackie, smiling at Ally.

After a moment, Hazel's stepmum and two of her cousins came out of the kitchen holding two plates each.
'Dinner!' one of the little kids shouted, and the plates were set on the table in front of each kid, then, they ducked inside to get 4 more. -
Theo looked at his plate, smiling to himself.
