"Hazel, wait!" Her dad called out. "Your stepmom wants to talk to you!"

Hazel exhaled sharply and turned around. 'Where is she?'

"Unloading the dishwasher!" Her stepmom called out.

Hazel huffed and walked back downstairs. 'Yeah?' she asked, looking at her stepmom.

"Well I wanted to finish our conversation..." Her stepmom said, turning the dishwasher on. "If that's ok with you..."

'It really isn't, bye!' Hazel said walking towards the door.
'Hazel!' her stepmother snapped. 'I'm talking to you whether you like it or not!' -
Theo heard Hazel's stepmom snap and poked his head out. He didn't want to but in on the conversation, but also wanted to know what was happening.

Hazel huffed and turned around. 'What is it, then?'
'Your father asked me to marry him,' Hazel's stepmother said, tone less snappy.
Hazel clenched her jaw. 'And you said yes?'
'Yes.' -
"So... I just wanted to make sure that was ok with you." Her stepmom said. "Seeing as you're the oldest, you should be the first to know."

'It's... it's fine,' Hazel muttered. 'Can I go now?'

Hazel's stepmom sighed, not happy with how unenthused Hazel sounded. "I suppose so... Unless there's anything else you want to say?"

'No,' Hazel said, and stormed up to her room.

Theo watched her walk in angrily. "You alright?" He asked, knowing she wasn't. "What's wrong?"

'Nothing,' Hazel said, though her tone was slightly aggressive and angry.

"Sorry." Theo mumbled, staring at the floor.
