Amira wolfed it down, suddenly realising how hungry she was. She'd only been here three days so why did it feel like she'd been here for months already?

"Here, take as much as you want." Kai offered, not adding that he didn't know how much longer his rations would last.

Amira shook her head. "No, you save it for you and Aaron" she said though in reality she was still really hungry.

Kai shook his head. "Please, I don't want you going hungry."

Amira guiltily took another half slice. "Thank you so much"

"No problem, tell me if you need more." Kai said as Aaron ran up and grabbed a half-slice.

Amira nodded though she told herself she wouldn't ask for me.

"You guys done with the bread?" Kai checked. He wasn't going to eat any of it for a day or two to make sure it lasted longer.

Amira hadn't eaten her half slice yet and shook her head
"Are you not eating?" -
Kai shrugged. "Not hungry." He lied, walking into the hut to put the bread away.

Amira gave a small smile and followed him to the hut. "Here eat this, you'll starve otherwise" she said pressing her uneaten slice into his hand.

Kai shook his head. "No, you eat it. I'll eat tomorrow."

"No, please I feel really bad plus you haven't eaten at all, you'll get ill, trust me I've been there"

Kai shook his head again. "It's only been a day, I'll be fine."

Amira sighed and walked back over to the bench and offered it to Aaron instead.
