Nik looked over at Ming again, smiling as she slowly warmed up to the kids playing with her.

'Are you sure you're fine?' Leo pryed.

Nikolai looked down at the floor and shook his head. “I’m not fine.” He muttered.

Nikolai shrugged, refusing to cry. “I don’t care either way.” He said quietly.

Leo craned his head so he could look at Nik. 'Then let's talk about it.'

“Well she’s GONE. And she’s like, my best friend.”

'You have her number, don't you? You can still talk to her?'

“Yeah, but that’s not the same.” Nikolai said, though he did pull out his phone and quickly text Nat: You got adopted? Already?

Natsuki was still in the car. The city wasn't too far away now. She felt her phone buzz in her pocket, and noticed the text from Nik. Yeah , she texted Nik.

that’s crazy! Nik texted back. well, at least you’re not trapped in the foster center anymore.
