I search the entire city from about but don’t see anything. I drop down near a food stand and order two bowls of udon. (Noodle soup I think.)

Ankoku winds her way through the alleyways, getting turned around and lost. am I going in circles?

I get the feeling that something is amiss. The food I was eat drops to the ground as I rush through the crowd.

"Akari, can you hear me?" Ankoku calls out, wandering around the alleyways. i am definitely going in circles

It turns out, the demon that had turned the other demon, was right behind Ankoku. It was able to slash at her when I push her out of the way, getting my own neck slashes instead. The blood drops to the ground and I wince in pain.

Ankoku's eyes widen when she realizes what's happening. She unsheathes her katana, then remembers Akari's words from earlier. 'A regular katana cannot kill a demon.' still, she slashes out with the blade, hoping she could at least harm the demon.

The demon flees into the night and I cough up some blood. Only, it doesn’t’t look like normal blood.

"Are you okay, Akari!?" Ankoku exclaims, sheathing her sword and rushing over to Akari. "What is that?" She says, frowning at the 'blood'

I cough again. “The wound is infected, I don’t have much time.”

"Is there a way to stop it?" Ankoku asks frantically.

“No, take my swords, you may not have any training but you will at least have something to defend yourself.”

Ankoku takes the swords in her hands, blinking back tears. "I've only known you for a day and it feels like we're already friends..." She says, her voice shaking

I smile weakly at her and she can see that I have already started to transform. “We need to get me out of the village, away from the civilians.”

Ankoku takes Akari's arm, leading her through the alleyways until they are out of the darkness and away from the townsfolk. "Hurry, before you fully turn... I don't want to have to fight you." She says, backing away.

“I feel that is unavoidable. A newly turned demon is almost impossible to reason with. They loose all ability to reason and are almost mindless.”
