Soon, it pondered numerous areas, lingering near the lost souls which trudged through the waters. It lowered its glance towards a certain soul, before adverting itself back into the canoe to grab a net. After a few moments, it seized the net before tossing it down, soon taking a griphold of the soul. As it lay motionless, it snatched it up, wryly observing it.

Devin shrieked as a net descended on him. They thrashed in a panic, desperate to escape the net. "What's going on?!" They wailed.

The creature narrowed its eyes, not responding; it briskly sent forward an arm to attempt to stop the thrashing, beginning to get frustrated with its short patience.

Devin shrieked again, wailing in fear. "I hate this! What's going on?!"

It then proceeded to project the soul carelessly into the back of the canoe before merrily continuing to search for more souls to sabotage.

Riley heard the scream. The sound bolstered her resolve to find land.

As the ferryman peered back to be affirmed the soul had been projected unscathed into the canoe, it continued its toll, eyeing the waters with a silent assessment. The waters trickled, voiceless, as the ferryman glanced at the many fluorescent spirits submerged in its sable depths. None seemed to appear to be the one it had been searching for; it went on with an unhurried row.

Riley was getting tired. She had been swimming for hours, and simply couldn't. She elected to tread the water to keep herself afloat while she rested.
