"I- He- Ki- P-Poi-" The king's voice faded completely and his eyes closed for the last time.
Goerge's mouth hung open in shock and he let the tears fall. This man had been like a father to him, and now he was gone.
---------------------------------------
The owner scoffed as he looked the masked kid over. "You don't look like you've got a dime on you, boy. Besides, it's one of the least expensive things in my shop. The other would be this neck- WHAT-!?" The man exclaimed in shock when he turned around. His necklace was gone!
Nick had ducked out of the way just in time. He pocketed the necklace and sighed with relief. -
Karl dropped his father's hand and threw himself on the king, sobbing. "No, please!!! I need you, Father, please!!!!!"
Dream laughed, darting away from the shop. He met up with Nick in the alley. "Let's head down towards the other market. The one for the poor. Let's sell this and get some money!" -
George cried and tried to piece together what the king was trying to say, but he couldn't do it. He hugged his friend and mourned.
(Can you pick up Schlatt? I've got the other background characters)
-----------------------------------------
(Think of Dream as Robin Hood. Slightly calmer. Trickier. Mellowed, yet somehow more intense.)
"WAIT- NO!" The shopkeeper stood there in shock.
Sapnap nodded and darted ahead of his friend. -
(Sure. Ummm, ok. I can do this.)
Schlatt smiled cruelly. He had already heard from a gaurd that the King was dead. He walked into the room, seeing the two boys. He frowned, thinking about the prince. He would get in his way.
Karl grabbed his friend and hugged him tight. "This has to be a dream." He sobbed heavily.
Dream turned. "Sap, go. Don't let them catch you. I'll follow in a bit." He turned and jumped up on the same shed him and Nick were on earlier. He watched the chaos unfold and slowly unclipped his mask. "Let's try a quick trick so no one suspects." He pulled his jacket off and sighed. He hopped down and approached the marketplace from an angle, trying to make it seem like he was just passing through. -
George leaned in and held his friend close. "I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry-" He repeated. He noticed the king's advisor in the room. "Sir?" He asked weakly.
"Got it-" Sapnap replied as he ran. He darted toward the darker parts of the city. Full or orphans, thieves, runaways, thugs, and more. -
Schlatt smirked. "Hello there, Prince. Why don't you and your friend head to your room for now. I'll send when I need you. After all, this loss must be hard." He said in mock sympathy.
Karl turned, made eye contact for a second, before becoming terrified by what he saw and ran out of the room. He ran to his room, sobbing hard.
Dream walked towards one of the other stalls asking what had happened. "Excuse me, ma'am, but what's going on?" He asked, making his voice softer and quieter. -
George watched his friend, dart out of the room and uncharacteristically lost it. "Send for him when you NEED him!? What's that supposed to mean!?"
Nick made it to the market and over to one of their best buyers. "Mr. Smith, I believe I've got another trade to make with you-" He said politely as he opened the door. -
Schlatt frowned. "It means when I need him. Now go, before I change my mind and put you both to work for me."
Karl sobbed, sliding down the wall. He brought his knees to his chest and just cried. His father was dead and no one needed him out there. He was just getting in the way.
The shopkeeper smiled at the boy. "That merchant over there had a very valuable necklace stolen. He's very upset and wants to find the criminals."
Dream nodded. "I see. Does anyone know what the thieves looked like?" -
George glared at Schlatt as he raced out of the room and to his friend. "Karl!" He exclaimed when he saw his friend. He darted over and held his friend close.
"Of course, boy." Mr. Smith gazed at the necklace. "HOLY COW-" he exclaimed.
"Hmm?" Nick hummed a response. -
Schlatt watched the boy go. They both need to learn something. What that is I don't know right now.
Karl hiccupped weakly, hugging George back. "I feel like it's somehow my fault! Like he's dead because I didn't deserve him!!"
The shopkeeper frowned. "No. There was only a boy about your age who was talking to him when the necklace got stolen. The boy had a mask and a green jacket on. There had to be another person because the boy was talking to him about a bracelet when the necklace was stolen."
Dream nodded. "Oh. Well today seems to be a bad time to shop. I'll come back tommorrow." With those words he ran off, grabbed his mask and jacket, then tried to find Nick. -
(I gtg sleep ahhhh ab to get caught ttyl friend ily

"What!? NO! The king loved you. You did nothing wrong, Jacobs. Nothing wrong." George reassured his friend.
"It's worth more than I've got, kid. Maybe you and Dream got a little too cocky?" Mr. Smith said unsurely.
"That's what I've been SAYING!!" Sapnap exclaimed. -
Karl nodded, remaining silent. He just clung to George and cried.
"What have you been saying, Sapnap?" Dream asked, walking quietly onto the store. He had his mask and jacket back on, and he was just in time to catch what Sapnap said. -
George ran a hand through Karl's hair and sighed. "I-I'm not good at this. I wish I could take the pain away fro both of us-"
"That you've been getting too cocky. I'm going to assume the necklace is one of a kind, recognizable. It's, like, worth well over what Smith has." Nick turned to their buyer. "No offense-"
"None was taken, kid. But I feel like anyone would pay anything for this. The best I can do is pay partially now, give you boys a sack of apples and other food, and pay you back once it's sold."
Sapnap looked to Dream and raised his eyebrows. Pretty sick deal-
