"I'll speak to the prince later. I'll go to the room now." He said darkly. George was already formulating a plan.
Nick nodded once he made it to his feet. "Here goes nothing." He moved past Clay, took a deep breath, and dropped into the tunnel. -
Schlatt smirked and nodded, sitting down on the throne. "Did you have something to say?" He asked George's father.
Dream nodded, and dropped into the water after Nick. He glanced over at his friend and pulled the hatch shut. He gently touched Nick's shoulder to tell him to move forward. -
George nodded to his father before turning and striding out of the room. He walked back to the room, but instead, he went to his room. The door on the other side of the Prince's. He figured that would be acceptable.
The War Advisor stepped forward and up to the king's throne. He took his position beside their ruler and nodded politely. "Yes, sir. I'm sorry about my son, he's going through a lot right now with the loss of his mother. But I guarantee he'll come around at one point."
Nick swam forward and powered through the tunnel. His lungs started to ache and he was still shaky. -
Schlatt nodded. "I see. Well, if you could keep him from defying me and attempting to take my life, I would appreciate that."
Dream followed Nick, trying to stay close in case something like last time happened. He tried to stay a little bit away so he wouldn't bump into Nick. -
"I understand sir, I apologize." The advisor chuckled quietly. "My real reason for coming in here was to ask why you were awake, and see if I could update you on what our spies have found out in the northern kingdoms."
Nick slowed as he started to get dizzy, but he continued onward. -
Schlatt frowned. "Originally I was awake to have those two do some things for me, bit I heard them plotting. What is the news from the northern kingdoms?"
Dre noticed that Nick slowed down and had to stop before he bumped into him. He tried to see where the exit to the river was, but it was still too dark. -
"Ah, I see." He said with a nod. "Well, the spies fear they've been figured out. They're being discreetly avoided. It's suspicious. And the armies seem to be growing in numbers." The advisor ran a hand through his dark hair and sighed.
Nick sank to the bottom of the tunnel, and then kicked off and propelled himself forward. He swam as hard as he could in his state, and his injured shoulder hit the door at the end. He bit back a cry of pain, desperate to keep holding his breath. -
Schlatt curled his lip. "Bring those spies back and send more. Newer ones. So we can scout out more territories and terrains. Or do you think that is unnecessary?" He asked almost mockingly.
Dream swam up to Nick and pushed against the door. He threw his weight against it, and saw pain flash across Nick's face. He kept trying to open the door, which was harder than he thought. -
"With all due respect, sir, if we pull out the spies and replace them, it'll be even more suspicious than if we have the ones already in place acting as if nothing is wrong. Or if we have them fake confusion and ask a general why people are avoiding them." He countered. He'd had years of experience in war tactics, and feared the king wouldn't listen to him.
Nick leaned back and rammed against the door, doing his best to ignore the pain. He managed to get it open with Clay's help, and he swam to the surface as fast as he could. -
Schlatt shrugged. "Fine. Let's do that. Now if you wouldn't mind leaving me alone, I have some things to think about." He had to say something about the prince. Suicide of some sort?
Dream gasped as he broke the surface, catching his breath. He swam over toward the shore, panting. He waited for Nick to make sure he was okay. -
"Of course, sir." The advisor nodded respectfully before leaving. Once he was in the hallway, he smiled in pride at how his son had stood up for what was right. I couldn't have asked for better. His mother would be proud.
Once Nick broke the surface, gasping for air. He crawled onto shore and gripped his shoulder. "F**K-" He yelled. -
Schlatt smirked. "Now, about the prince. If I say he committed suicide, maybe then I could remain king. Let's see.... Maybe he hung himself out of grief. He believed he has nothing else to live for and killed himself. That would work. Right?" He asked himself, talking out loud, as was his habit
Dream rushed to Nick's side. "Nick! You need serious help! Can I see it? It might've broken or something." -
George's father paused. He heard everything the king had said. He tried to figure out what to tell his son.
Nick hissed in pain as he laid down and rolled onto his back. "I- F**K- I hurts so bad-" He murmured. "H-Help I-" -
Schlatt stood and walked over to the side of the throne room l. He looked out the windows and frowned. "There is a balcony that is in this hallway. I can tell the kingdom myself what happened. That Prince Karl hung himself after his father's death."
Dream grabbed Nick's hand and looked down at his friend. "Where does it hurt most, Sap? Can you relax and tell me? You will need to see a healer anyway, but hopefully I can figure out how bad it is." -
(Imma drop the people at the castle, it's self explanitory-)
Nick hissed in pain and gestured to his shoulder blades and joints. "I think it's just- just dislocated." He said weakly. "It doesn't feel broken."
An arrow flew past Clay's head, just barely missing. A Skeleton stood on the other side of the river, his bones clanking every time he moved. Nick's yelling must have attracted it.
