Morrigan took a sip of her coffee. As I said, I've been busy." She nervously laughed. "And really stressed, to be honest. How about you??"
-
"Busy, yeah," Matthew said with a strained chuckle. "What have you been busy with? Are you still in school?" He asked curiously.
-
Morrigan secretly panicked... what should i say? Oh, ya know, causing chaos and destruction and the deaths of millions of people to ease my own pain. The usual. God no...
"Yeah, still in school." She laughed. "I'm also working on a couple of side projects. I'm building different tech and running my own programs." -
"Hey, thats awesome," Matthew said with a smile, chuckling. He took a sip of his coffee before adding. "You'll have to show me sometime, that sounds interesting."
-
"Oh my god, you're right! I'd be glad to show you!" Morrigan replied, although the thought almost made her shutter. The things her little programs had done...
"What about you? What have you been up to?" She asked. -
"Uh, I've been busy," Matthew said with a shrug, taking another drink of his coffee. "Colledge has been a lot of work lately, and I'm a work-a-holic, so I've either been doing school or work. Barely had any free time in between."
-
"Yeah, that makes sense. You sound like you need a break. The both of us do." Morrigan sighed and looked outside. "Oh, it's raining. It's so pretty!" She smiled sweetly and gazed out the window.
-
"That's why I'm happy Im hanging out with you here, it's very peaceful," He said with a smile before looking out the window. "Ah, yes. That'll make it easy to walk home now," He said with a chuckle. "But it does look very nice."
-
Morrigan was almost mesmerized by the rain. it added to the relief she felt of being here with Matthew. She hadn't felt "relief" or "peace" in a while.
As if the universe had it out for her, a loud BOOM came from a couple of blocks down. She could feel it in the ground beneath her feet. "WHAT THE HELL!?" She yelled. She looked up at Matthew, genuinely scared.
if I didn't cause that...who did!? -
Matthew jumped, leaping to his feet and running over to the window. "s---," He muttered, seeing some sort of villain doing mischief down the street.
"Uh, we should probably get out of here," Matthew said to Morrigan as an excuse, walking back to the table. "There's some villain down the street." -
(Idk how you imagined the villain but I'm gonna give Morrigan history with this person. hehe this is gonna get overly into story and stuff lol)
Morrigan sprinted to the window as well, needing to see what sort of villain had shown up, besides herself. She gasped in shock, for it was someone she hadn't seen in a LONG time and NEVER wanted to see again. The figure was walking fast in the middle of the road. One minute there wasn't a bomb, then the world seemed to "glitch" around him, and then there was.
"P-Parallax...it's him." Morrigan turned away from the window and looked up into Matthews's eyes "Parallax refers to the d-displacement of objects in physics and the difference i-in perception. It's normally used to calculate perspective. He morphs your reality, causing a displacement in your own perspective." She was in a sort of panic now, barely able to even stand. -
Damn, that's pretty cool, Matthew thought with a shrug.
"Jeez, okay, um, we have to get out of here, then," Matthew said, trying to get away to become Citadel. -
(I'm starting to kinda rethink this. What if Morrigan escaped the villainous people of her past, trying to be a better person? Or we can keep the villain idea where she kills Matthew. Your choice lol)
Suddenly Parallax was at the window. He looked Morrigan directly in the eyes and smirked slightly. Morrigan froze in place, unable to move or speak. Parallax mouthed "I've come back for you." He then leaped off the ground and into the air, now somehow on top of a building across the street.
Morrigan's knees bucked beneath her, and the ground rushed towards her. She passed out from pure terror and traumatizing memories. -
(no, i like that idea, :D)
Matthew jumped, quickly catching Morrigan. He glanced up at Parallax, frowning. He grabbed his phone, quickly telling his uncle to come and bring his hero stuff. He picked up Morrigan, running behind a wall and sitting her down against it.
"Morrigan?" Matthew whispered. "Morrigan, please wake up," He repeated, hitting her cheek gently. -
(Which idea??? Lol. And the italic below is a memory ig idfk)
Parallax threw Morrigan against the wall. It felt like every bone in her body shattered. Red lights flashed, and smoke was starting to burn her lungs. He grabbed her arm and pinned her against the wall. He leaned in close, and whispered "This is the end" and smiled menacingly.
Morrigan screamed and jumped up from her place on the ground. She was gasping for air. The anxiety and terror took over, and she had to stop herself from sending a telekinetic pulse at Matthew.
