Thread Topic: Nothing but an Echo
-
Echo tried to speak. But they were only able to whimper. They started crying and pulled away from the girl. Why didn't she just go away?
-
"Are you okay?" Lauren asked, taking a single step towards him.
-
They shook their head. They started shaking and crying harder. They couldn't speak, even if they wanted to.
-
"What do you need?" she asked, unsure of what to do. She didn't ask what she could do, she didn't assume what he needed. She asked what he needed, and she would act accordingly.
-
"I-I DON'T KNOW. I-I GUESS I WANT SO-SOMEONE T-TO T-T-TELL ME T-THAT THEY L-LOVE ME." Echo stuttered, avoiding Lauren's eyes.
-
Lauren didn't know what to say. She definitely wasn't to that point yet. "Someone will," she said.
-
"BUT WHO? EVERYONE THINKS I'M A FREAK! NO ONE LIKES ME!!!!" Echo sobbed, becoming hysterical.
-
"Maybe not yet, but trust me, there's someone out there for you. You'll see," Lauren said.
-
Echo just sobbed harder. This girl would never understand. He -aah, no- they felt something. Something they hadn't felt since they murdered their family. Was it - Could it - be love?
-
Laured put her hand on his arm. "I'll be here for you," she said.
-
Echo shuddered. He - aaaah, no - They knew she was speaking the truth. Why didn't he - stupid demons - they believe her?
-
Lauren reached into her pocket. "Do you want another mint?"
-
"YOU HAVE MORE?" Echo asked, almost excited.
-
"Only a few," Lauren smiled. She pulled out one and handed one to him.
-
"I-I. THANK YOU. WHY ARE YOU BEING SO NICE TO ME?" Echo stuttered. They needed to know.
