Oliver held one hand to his aching head, his other hand leaning against the kitchen counter. "I'm...not sure. I usually just stay inside and write."

``We could go out, like take a walk,`` Vivian suggested, crossing her arms. ``I like to take walks, it's very calming.``

"I know for a fact that I'm going to smack into something," Oliver said with his eyebrows raised. "But sure, I'll give it a shot."

``Don't worry, I'll make sure you don't run into something,`` Vivian said with a chuckle, walking over to Oliver. ``Is it okay if I take your hand?``

There were two important things to know about Oliver. One, he hated being touched. Two, he always liked to do things himself and hated being dependent on anyone or anything. This was precisely a worst case scenario for him, considering that he was also not very good with girls or people in general.
"...I guess?" Oliver said, sounding very unsure. -
Vivian nodded and gently took Oliver's hand, lightly gripping onto it. ``So, where should we go?``

A jitter ran down Oliver's spine when she touched him, but it wasn't an unpleasant one. Her hand was soft and warm, and she was gentle instead of the death grip that his ex always insisted upon.
"Your choice," he said with a shrug. "Anywhere is fine with me." -
"Okay, I was wanting to stop by a Barnes and Nobles near my place to get a book I've been waiting to buy, then I thought we could go to this park near it."

"That sounds nice," Oliver said. He meant it too. It sounded like a nice outing that someone would have with a friend.

Vivian nodded and started walking, guiding Oliver at her side. She hummed as she walked, looking around at people and cars who passed by.

Oliver couldn't help but flinch as he heard cars screeching by and the loud buzz of the city. Without noticing, he held Vivian's hand much tighter than before.

Vivian glanced over to Oliver and lightly gripped his hand in reassurance, staying close to his side as they walked.

Oliver was tense, as if he expected a telephone pole to smack him in the face at any moment. "Where are we?" he asked.

``Almost at the Barnes and Nobles,`` Vivian replied, staying close to Oliver's side and guiding him down the sidewalk.

Oliver nodded, swallowing hard and trying not to get overwhelmed by the clashing and loud sounds. "Good."
