Arlo glared at her playfully. ``I'm fine,`` he said, blushing as he gently shooed one leaf off and nudged the other onto it to make a thin stack of leaves. Then, he stood up and dipped his feet in the water. ``It would actually be pretty nice here if this was just a vacation trip,`` he thought aloud.
-
``Honestly, it would,`` Jo said with a chuckle. ``I can just imagine. Sunbathing on the sand and swimming with my friends.`` She sighed, crossing her arms. ``But no, it's not and vacation with my friends,`` she muttered, rubbing her face.
-
``Could be worse,`` Arlo said again. ``Don't forget that.`` His eyes caught the sunlight, and he looked away guiltily, though for what reason, Arlo himself knew not.
-
Jo nodded, sliding down to the ground. She sat and hugged her legs to her chest, burying her head in her knees. ``I'm gonna die out here. I'm gonna die, alone, without my friends, or family, or even having a boyfriend,`` she mumbled into her arms.
-
@Voidless, would you like to continue the RP? It's fine if you can't or don't wanna.
-
(Sorry, I forgot to check the Stage TwT. Responses just take a while from me sometimes! I’ll tell you if I ever want to discontinue an RP.)
``You aren’t going to die,`` Arlo insisted, putting extra steel into his voice. For a skinny boy with freckles, he sure could speak confidently. ``We're going to live. We're going to get out of this,`` he murmured. He'd already made tons of progress; the new sandcastle was nearly finished. He was just putting some final touches on it. -
( M'kay, and it's fine! I'm just being annoying lol )
Jo hugged her legs closer, making herself small. ``But what if we don't make it out alive?`` She muttered, lifting her head. She looked out at the water, watching the sunlight hit the waves as they splashed against the shore. -
(You're not annoying at all! I understand where you’re coming from.)
``We will,`` Arlo insisted, but his voice cracked, his expression revealing his inner fear and worry. ``What do you think your family's doing right now?`` Arlo asked, clearly eager to change the topic. Proudly, his eyes took in his own handiwork. The stairs he had made looked delicate and fragile yet regal and fitting. -
( okie U^U )
``My family? Working, as always,`` Jo said, brushing strands of hair out of her face. ``Both my parents work for this big company, so their schedule is usually pretty filled. My siblings are all either in college, have a successful job, or have a family of their own to deal with.`` She let go of her legs, crossing them. ``Me, the "disappointment", have done "nothing with my life" as my parents say, even though I actually have. But, apparently, being a social media influencer and semi famous streamer isn't good enough for them.`` She exhaled, chuckling softly. ``Great first impression of my family, isn't it.`` -
"You're not a disappointment," Arlo said quietly. "From what I’ve seen of you, I can infer that others just mistreat you. And it's…" Arlo blinked back tears, though he wasn’t sure why. He didn’t know what to say. He felt trapped, surrounded by cement walls and left with only his fist.
-
``F--ked up? You could say that,`` Jo said with a light chuckle. ``But, it's not like you can do anything to change my parents mind's.`` She leaned back, propping herself up with her arms. ``It's not a big deal to me, anyway. I'm gonna get famous and prove them wrong, and when the come to me for money and sh-t, I'm denying them.`` She added, keeping her gaze on the water. ``Cause, if they're not gonna be there for me at my lowest time, they don't deserve to be there at my highest point.``
-
Arlo whistled appreciatively. ``You understand how life works damn well,`` he told her, sitting dejectedly to the right of his sandcastle.
-
``F--k yeah,`` Jo said, giggling. She laid backwards on her back, staring up at the sky. ``Honestly, the only people I'd share my fame and wealth with are maybe my close friends and my oldest sister, because honestly, they're the only ones who are proud of me for this.``
-
``I bet. That's a good choice to make,`` Arlo commented, stretching his legs out. ``So, what are we going to do with the time we have?`` he asked, although he was already bending leaves and using driftwood to make a small tent.
-
Jo shrugged, putting her arms behind her head. ``Dunno,`` she said, closing her eyes. She hummed softly, bending one leg and tapping her foot against the ground.
